this isnt "build fighters" but "build divers" instead and its part of the same 'build' continuity as build fighters (re:rise is the 4th entry), basically build fighters started out with people piloting their plastic models in a simulated environment/stage and real damage done would actually impact the actual model to the same degree but by the time of its sequel "build fighters try" a few years later technology has advance a bit to minimized the damage done to the plastic models so players wouldnt be afraid of potentially wrecking their gundams in a fight build divers however takes place further into the future where you use your plastic model in a full-dive virtual environment of a online virtual reality game called GBN online (gundam battle nexus) where there is absolutely no damage done to the plastic models hence the change in name from build fighters -> build divers, the fact that its a virtual environment also mean that they can further display features and concept of the super robot genre too like in build divers someone actually enveloped another gundam in energy and turned it into a humongous energy sword... yeah let the absurdity sink in overall alus the naked opponent is an AI and is actually something of a tragic villain, as someone else mentioned re:rise introduced an alien civilization and those aliens actually look no different then humans called 'the ancients' that lived on a distant planet called eldora, they were the ones that created alus and tasked him with defending their planet against their own plight of an alien invasion, alus won the war but the satellite housing him was damaged and eldora itself was wrought with devastation as a result so the ancients decide to leave for space and the planet in alus' protection for whence they return, its unknown what happened to the ancients afterward or even if their race still exist or gone extinct somewhere in space but its heavily implied some of them had their consciousness reincarnated as fully sentient AI on earth (2 named AI characters within GBN is heavily implied to be the reincarnation of 2 of these 'ancient' that alus had a close relationship with) yet alus here is still waiting who knows possibly how many centuries, millenniums or maybe even eons for their return but is still trying to preserve the planet for their return... and is upholding his duty by trying to exterminate a race of furry humanoid creatures that has seemingly repopulated the planet of eldora whilst he was in slumber unaware that the ancients actually created them and the only ones standing in his way is the main cast of gundam piloting characters that while playing GBN has accidentally discovered some sort of connection that is capable of reaching out and linking them across the massive distance of space to eldora and is even able to materialized their virtual avatars and gundams onto the planet of eldora through the ancient technology that the ancients has left behind for a gundam spin off about piloting plastic model gundams as an excuse to crossovers gundams from different series this is a hell of a bizarre plot twist

Zeonic Amphibious Mobile Suits during the One Year War are the most unique MS youll see, they have made many of them and are vastly different to each other. Also interesting fact about the Thunderbolt Acguy, if you compare the TB Acguy size to the OG Acguy size its been notice that its actually smaller than the OG Acguy, the Thunderbolt Acguys are just little fellas.

so this era of gundam is interesting. set around 0120 era the movie was sppose to be a series but issues happened. years go by and ppl wanted more so one of the top known gundam mangas (no official english release, if read gotta find free translated chaps) called gundam crossbone started in 90s and to this date new manga series part of crossbone is still being released. plus prequels like thr f90 mangas. to add: similar to star wars you got eras that they focus on. og, zeta and zz is one era, chars counterattack, unicorn and narrative is second, then f90, f91 and crossbone is third. of course eaisest one to get into is either era one or two depending where you start. era three gotta dig deep into the weeds to know whats going on. to add again: others mention about the machines called bugs by now with stuff like dune popularity and ppl see inspirations taken and put into star wars and warhammer 40k for exm then gundam is no different. around this era humankind especially those space kingdoms been pushing more on ai machine use which becomes more deadly and to degree inhuman in crossbone stories. this is inspired by dune machine war with human kind fight back against the thinking machines about 10k years before events of the dune movie/book pretty much. dont know if ppl mention this but if told about super robot wars games they do contain mobile suits from mangas and such in it like crossbone being in super robot wars V with vids of its attacks and abilities.

I don't know if someone already made this as a comment but F91 is going to be a tough watch as it had such a troubled production that it wasn't until after animation was already being done that they would be told that it would be a movie and not a proper show so it has very glaring pacing issues and character behaviors like Cecily/Berah, the female pilot switches sides more than once and another pilot went from launching to fight to being lead to a ship on the enemy side having somehow let the other side know she's defecting to them within like a minute of our time and off screen.

The Acguy is a mobile suit that is featured in manga or have special animations in video games. There is a Manga called "Mobile Suit Gundam - Acguy: 2250 Miles Across North America" where it is about two Zeon pilots in Acguys trying to get to safety after the failed attack on the Earth Federation headquarters in Jaburo, located in the South American Jungles near the Amazon River Basin. The manga is more about the comedy aspect. In game in GBO2 the Acguy was given its own death animation, where it just falls back on to its bottom and sits there before exploding. The normal death animation is to kneel and then explode.

at time 0:53, the thing in that scene is one of the 31 Machine Primevals. Each Primeval represents a piece of the body, so the three you saw in capes were the Hair, Jaw, and Fist Primevals. They are the true main antagonists of GaoGaiGar, They are able to fuse with machinery or intimate objects to create a body based on what piece of the body they represent and what ever it was they fused with. This is not something in the show, but an example would be the Jaws fusing with multiple Jet fighters. they look ugly because its intentional, real deep sea diving suits were ugly and chonky and these mobile suits are amphibious meaning it can go on land and underwater, it makes up for its lack of armor and speed on land with its much smaller size but much more articulate body, it can also be fitted to different uses like the one with the land surveying rod and the tri prong mapping thingy, although its not ideal for front line use which is why it is depicted in this scene to be used for infiltration and data gathering or as something to strike deep within enemy lines to soften defenses, plus the large head carries missiles or in this case smoke grenades, it is a proper hit and run machine perfect for Earth operations, in the original 1979 gundam it was also supposed to be used on Jaburo since it was a thick jungle with plenty of rivers and underground water tunnels that lead straight unto the federation base there, anyways the attack on Jaburo was a failure nonetheless because they attacked early and these saw action on the front lines rather than being sent first to soften defenses and retreated for reinforcements to arrive and finish the job. Char used his Accguy to plant bombs in Jaburo secretly but some kids from white base found it and disposed of the bombs so the planned failed.

There is a reason why Zeon has most of their mobile suits use a single eye. The reason is that it allows the mobile suit to see through the Minovsky Particle interface more easily by focusing the camera at that singular point. This does leave the mobile suit a bit more susceptible to being overwhelmed in close quarters combat. The GMs use a more general camera, so it can't go through the interface as well, but gives a wider view/sensor detection for the pilot. That is why for some of the GM sniper customs had a visor with a camera on it to give it that extra boost to the sensors to get through the inference. At time 1:38 one of you asked if they had the 360 degree cockpit at this point? I am not too sure for Thunderbolt, but around this time in the Original UC timeline there was only a handful of prototypes that had the 360 degree cockpit a little after the 1 year war. It was still being tested.

Well I mean those things are designed to target people. They would have a way better time killing him even if he has cover from the other 2. They might also die trying to defend him while leaving their flanks open. Besides, he's panicking. Kind of an issue with auto eject systems is if it's an auto eject system, your cockpit is already destroyed or it's because your reactor is about to go up. which in both cases your dead anyways. When I first saw Acguys in the first Gundam show, I didn't like them at first. But I appreciated them more when I saw them in more modern animation in 08th MS Team and Thunderbolt season 2. FYI, Thunderbolt season 2 takes place in an alternate U.C. 0080, 8 months after One Year War ended, but the enemies that the Zeon remnants are fighting in the jungle battle is NOT Earth Federation, but a new faction called South Seas Alliance which doesn't exist in the canon U.C. timeline. Anyways, South Seas Alliance was originally a religious autonomous faction within Federation that had de facto control over most Asian territories. After OYW ended, SSA tried to break away from the Federation during the post-war turmoil. Basically, SSA is now more or less a religious cult of fanatics(the leader being a Newtype) and an enemy both to Zeon remnants and Earth Federation.

A Soldato J Cyborg, a Tomoro AI Core and an Arma Unit. It comes in several modes. The main mode is its J-Ark, a 100+ metre long Dreadnought Battleship armed with Anti-Meson cannons and Maser and ES Missiles. Protected by Generating Armour, which can regenerate whole portions of armour and even weapons, making it's missile reserves nigh infinite The main bridge can detach via Fusion into the J-Bird, a subunit that can further transform into J-Der, which was very briefly seen in the second Fusion sequence. Out of three Mobile Suits you see in this only one of them is a Gundam Type, the F91. The Federation looking MS with the F91 is the Heavygun, it's described as a mini-jegan but by this time it's quite outdated and being phased out from the Federation, the last one of the trio.... well to be honest Crossbone Vanguard Mobile Suits are one of my least knowledgeable faction in the Universal Century but it is a Ace Unit. Fun Fact: A year before the conflict in this film the Earth Federation was in a war against a faction called Mars Zeon! As you can guess it's Remnants force the Earth Sphere and fled to the Mars Sphere were they gathered themselves a large force to invade the Earth Sphere but unfortunately for them their Mobile Suits were considered outdated heavily to the modern Earth Federation Mobile Suits and the war lasted just a year.

The helmet guy is called Iron Mask, his real name being Karozzo Rona, the leader of Crossbone Vanguards, and also the father of that female mobile suit pilot Cecily who was forced to join the Crossbone Vanguards but soon defected to join Gundam F91 pilot, her old friend/love interest, as soon as opportunity arose. That would somewhat explain why the Federation pilot suggested they use her as a shield. Those machines the Crossbone Vanguards sent to the space colony are simply called Bugs, evil secret weapons that were made to specifically target human beings only, using human heat detection, carbon dioxide reaction, and motion sensors. The Bugs's purpose was to "decrease" the population without damaging the environment too much. You probably noticed that the Bugs weren't attacking Cecily's mobile suit, because the Bugs recognized hers as a Crossbone Vanguards MS. As someone else mentioned, having an ejection pod would have made the pilot an even easier target for the Bugs. As Cecily mentioned, only Iron Mask and his small entourage knew about the Bugs, so another major member of Crossbone Vanguards wasn't happy to learn of Iron Mask's plan and later even thanked F91 pilot for stopping the evil plan from going any further.

Ejection wouldn't have help him those machines are targeted to "liquidate" people so even if he ejected with swarm of man hunting machines he would have still died. He might of lived if he didnt fly away from the group they could have helped him.
