@ghog63 After completing the 24 footer and having more experience do you think the 40’ is possible? Or where do you think the challenges were?

It is very doable. This is a video of our 40 foot build which I did for a friend. kzbin.info/www/bejne/b3aufKp_rciNhJI He was very careful to level everything and it came out great. Here is a link to the finished dome and his systems. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJ_Lhoiqp9Bpl9k

How long did it take you to get the powder off the seeds? I tried to put the seedy bits through a blender to knock off the powder, but all I got was a lot of wooly, red stuff, that was still really difficult to separate from the seeds. I thought it had dried out enough, but I guess not.
@ghog63

I would guess it took less than 1 hour to fill that pint jar. Yeah, they need to be really dry

I want a hoop house type structure to cover our 29 foot Motorhome. We need only 12 foot wide. If I use your pipe deminsions and squeeze it to a narrower width will my pipe aech hight. It needs to be 12- 14 foot high. Did you do anything to your PVC pipes to make them bend into arches. I know you can heat PVE pipe and it will bend easily. Did you heat yours? Thanks for the great detailing of your videos.
@ghog63
@ghog63 8 ай бұрын
You do not need to heat them, they will bend easily. A rule to follow is the width will be half the height. If you make it 12 feet wide it will be 6 feet high. You can push the arches in to make it higher like I did but I would recommend using 2 ten foot pipes glued together to give you 20 foot pipes for the arches. Push them in to your desired height and it should work out fine. Just don't stress the glue joints too much and it will hold up

Can you overlap the triangles from top to bottom?, as if they were shingles to prevent water from coming in? I'm having a hard time thinking on a waterproof solution with materials available in my country (for now silicone caulk seems to be what I would have to do, but doesn't seem the right thing).

So my driveway will be 22ft. I guessing I might need another 10 feet? I went to the hardware store and the white PVC was heaper than the grey. Did you put the non bell side of the PVC in the ground tubes?
@ghog63
@ghog63 10 ай бұрын
You can scale it to whatever your needs are and we did put the non-bell side in the ground tubes. The grey is uv stable, not sure about the white but if you paint it (which you should, to protect the plastic) it should be fine. Good luck and happy growing

If you had used double hat channel furring to sandwich the poly, the skin would be stretched tight. Use double sided tape to hold the plastic until the second hat channel is fastened.

That is a silica packet. It absorbs moisture. They come in vitamin jars and other stuff that we get. It's not necessary but it keeps the powder from clumping up

This setup seems to be missing the solid filter tank between the return and the pump out to the buckets. No idea why. That prevents waste from the fish getting into the water pipes.

Door frame angles look really good. Conventional construction uses headers and double framing around the door to beef up for door jam attachment but you could probably get away without it considering the strength of the dome itself. Did you have plans or did you do the calculations yourself?
@ghog63
@ghog63 Жыл бұрын
I used Kasper Potanski"s plans from eden biodome revolution for the construction info. It was $50.00. I found it somewhat vague in parts but overall it was worth it. His techniques are good. It just took a little bit of thinking to understand some of the directions. As for calculating lengths and angles, I liked the dome calculator at simply differently org.

You see the insert pipe is the geodome itself.. snapped on from inside the geodome..so on the outside it have a nice crisp plush fit..so water don't catch in anywhere..then from inside the geodome I can add a few self tape screws..
@Einstein4palistine
@Einstein4palistine Жыл бұрын
My friend it nice idea.. thanks..I will let you know this solved my geodome problem.... you see it's steel tube construction..and I wanted to make each triangular section serviceable.. So all I have to do is cut a C channel and a Poly triangle so I just overlap any Poly plastic and clip the C channel right onto the geodome frame.. without any additional materials.. just c channels.. I hope you realize what big problem this solved..
