Starting Seeds In Eggshells

Spring is just around the corner, and it's time to start the garden. This year, we've decided to try something different and are starting our veggie seeds in eggshells. Hopefully, the shells will give the plants a little calcium boost to help get them off to a good start.

Why would you want to? Why would you need to?

Lots of reasons. Egg shells will add calcium to the soil and plants, they help keep pests like grubs away, worms love them which improves soil health, no disturbing the roots when transplanting, and they are basically free if you eat eggs.

Actually you should make a hole in the bottom of the egg shell for drainage. Once the seed sprouts, simply plant the entire egg shell into your garden....this prevents plant shock and the egg shell will eventually break down in the soil.
