Yes, the national team managers did not utilized Crespo properly. And yes, the Argentinian fans thought Crespo was basically Batistuta 2.0. But Crespo should have made the adjustment and developed another position in the national team. Crespo was a great player. Unfortunately, Crespo played around the tail end of Batistuta's career and was completely overshadowed in Argentina (and most of South America too!) by Batistuta's heroics and results. And now with Batistuta having problems walking, the idolization of Batigol will grow bigger with time. We can only hope Crespo gets his due soon because he deserves it.
