Hook length is wrapped around the weight. Leaving the hook length too short for the carp to suck in enough for it to hook itself

Bad luck for the hook point being on the opposite side. You wouldnt of known how close without the camera but its bound to happen xD

I fish a a place and the fish show the same behaviour. I use two poles, one with a float and one with a similar system as in the vid. For some reason these fish learned to recognise the system and i never able to hook them. With the float i do catch them if i can hide the hook with corn. With the boilies never success as they just scare them off. At Other places i do catch them with the same system😅

Carp felt resistance and spit it. Less weight. Or a weight that can move freely on the line. These weights are crap if it comes to carp fishing
