They offer high expense ratios as well. Might as well just use an S&P 500 index/ETF, low expense ratio, good dividends, and diversified.

For JEPQ, if the share price grows and the yield stays the same if the share price grows wouldnt the dividend grow too. If thats the case then since JEPQ holds Nasdaq stocks and those grow more than the S&P and the DOW wouldnt JEPQ more you more money than schd assuming JEPQ's sharw prices increased anywhere close to the SPY?

I own zero REITs and have not since about 2020 when it looked like they were stagnant. I'm glad I switched lately to the whole market index ETF VTI. Why didn't I do VOO? Well I didn't realize VOO is probably better, but VTI has been absolutely great anyway. I also held onto VGT and increased my stake in that over the last 4 years, but I'm moving away from that and buying VYM in anticipation of higher volatility and possibly even a correction. Should things really take a big dip I'll leave things alone and after 2 or 3 months I'll shift things from wherever I have them now to 100% VUG over a period of 3 to 4 months. We'll see.

Is it best to avoid having $JEPQ in a taxable brokerage account because of the tax implications? I currently have several shares in my Fidelity account and have been adding shares, but now wondering whether I should discontinue if my dividend payments are going to be eaten away by taxes?

Jepq dividends will be tacked as ordinary income at the end of the year. It’s best if you use a fund like this inside a Roth IRA where you won’t pay any taxes on it depending on how much you have I would quit buying jet Q and wait for it to switch over to long-term capital gains and sell out from it or just dump it and get rid of it
@Aaronymous_713 күн бұрын

I think JEPQ does a great job selling calls because the yield is so high, and it still receives capital appreciation on the shares. It would be hard to beat JEPQ selling the calls yourself on QQQ and take some time to do every month. It is well worth the .35 expense ratio they charge.

It’s really heartbreaking to see how inflation and recession impact low-income families. The cost of living keeps rising, and many struggle just to meet basic needs, let alone save or invest. Can you comment on taxes? Most high income ETFs are taxed at ordinary income. If it is in a Roth it makes sense but for a taxable account that eats into overall upside significantly.
@DrunkenDove8 күн бұрын
Relatively new to investing, but from what I have found, there are two types of dividend ETFs "qualified" vs "non-qualified". Depending on what kind of assets are in the ETFs they'd be taxed as income or "dividend" tax rates, dividend tax rates would be lower and are from "qualified" dividends and dividend ETFs. Please do your own research as I am still actively researching this myself to better understand it all.

@@jonmccallum4477 works best in a retirement account because you don’t have to worry about taxs. I try to stick with qualified etfs like voo or schd in my taxable accounts. You can try spyi or qqqi witch offer high yield with tax advantages that lower your tax burden. When i checked my tax form it was a big tax break. I can’t remember exactly but i can look it up again tomorrow if you want to know how much was not qualified

Dividends from SCHD are generally taxed at the qualified dividend rate, often providing a tax advantage over ordinary income rates for many investors. However, current market attention is centered on Nvidia, which has significantly contributed to the S&P 500’s recent earnings growth. Nvidia’s stock, up over 90% year-to-date, gained another 2.5% on Monday in New York, propelling the Nasdaq 100 to a new record high. I’m actively seeking new opportunities to enhance performance within my $350K portfolio and open to strategic ideas.

I believe the next significant trend will be in Artificial Intelligence. For sustained growth comparable to what META achieved, it’s essential to avoid impulsive decisions based on short-term market movements. Prioritize patience, maintain a long-term outlook, and, most importantly, consult a financial advisor for well-informed investment decisions.

I wholeheartedly agree. As I approach my mid-40s and retirement looms closer, I have accumulated over $2 million in non-retirement assets. I am free of debt and have allocated a relatively small portion to my retirement accounts compared to my overall portfolio in the past three years. The importance of a seasoned financial advisor cannot be overstated-just remember to conduct thorough research to find a dependable fiduciary.
