I usually don’t comment on camping locations because I don’t like to contribute to over crowding and I feel people should explore on their own. However I grew up just a few blocks away from the lakes, 5th grade back in 1959, at the time there was only 5 lakes, they were an early experiment in reclaiming waste water. Like everywhere the area has grown and the lakes thrive. The lakes now are well maintained, and even though I live farther away now I still visit to photograph birds, the selection of year around and migratory birds is amazing and with a little work you can get some nicely framed closeups. The camping is not wilderness dispersed camping but could work for someone visiting San Diego. Walk in day use is free and it’s a great place to get some walking in. The birds are the best part.

Happy Thanksgiving Alex! I appreciate your camping and travel videos. I travel across the country in all seasons so we've learned from others how to keep our water and ourselves from freezing solid. I recommend you use a larger propane tank and a hose to eliminate the 1 lb little tanks. You'll enjoy being warmer and heat lasting longer!
@xplorewithalex9752Ай бұрын
Oh Thank you...Happy Thanksgiving and hope you have a wonderful one. Yes i will diffinitely try a bigger tank some how i am scare of the big ones but I rather not freeze and catch a cold. 😁

@craigslystАй бұрын
2 of those are palm sized blu gill they are big, dont yank the hook out unless your keeping them for pan, cut line as close to hook as lossible throw them back in, palm sized blue gill are keepers, only throw live fish back in, get a red hook degauger to remove hooks are a pair of needle nose pliers so you dont kill the fish good luck!
@xplorewithalex9752Ай бұрын
yes, I do have one of those hook degauger pliers to remove hooks. I make sure not to kill the fish when taking hook off and throwing them back. But yeah, most of the time, are keepers 😏

Nice adventure Alex, you gotta be real carefull tk have proper ventation with propane heaters and burners in an enclosed camper, make sure its turned off at night be safe, following your next adventure from in socal!
@xplorewithalex9752Ай бұрын
Aw, thank you for caring. You are so right... at one point while still awake, i did smell the fumes a bit even though the window was cracked open, and so i got up and opened it a little more, like halfway for ventilation. It was cold, but better safe than sorry...😏

I just camped at Kern River's Edge with friends and it was fun. I live in the San Gabriel Valley and just started camping since late 2021. I have only been by Kernville, Joshua Tree, and Channel Islands. (which was my favorite of the 3) Since you have nearly 200 videos, I know you have lots of experience. Do you happen to have a favorite campsite per season, or if it is too hard, a list of top 10? Also any gear you highly recommend? (Still trying to improve my car camping gear) Thanks for you help and time. I appreciate your videos.
