The jagpd 38t never had a muzzle brake as it was not needed. Instead it was fitted with a screw on cap to protect the end of the gun barrel. . This was because the pak 75 was designed and manufactured with a muzzle brake. The threads were still there so the cap was fitted. The same was also the case for the jagpd IV Lang with the L /70 gun.

I find it amazing that the combination of American and British technology. The best British tank was the firefly American tank British gun. The British offered to America to licence build this gun but we refused. Instead we used the 76mm gun which was inferior. The P-51. American design British engine. The jagd 38t, not hetzer, has the early heavy mauntlent. This means it was an early example. It was replaced as it was too heavy. I find it annoying that the only thing that they know about any tank is from a video game.

Today (29/5-24) the Swedish government announced that all the remaining PBV 302 will be sent to Ukraine. These are units from storage, as the Swedish army have not used them for at least 10 years at this point. This video could be useful material for the intended recipients, even if the 302 at Arsenalen might be more of an older version than the units Sweden will deliver.

The FT was a machine gun tank? So all those armed with the 37mm are just a figment of the imagination?

It’s a bit surprising that the old tube radios could survive the shock of a 75mm gun firing

To me for early WW2 machine gun tanks & light tanks are more logical as infantry support tanks with Medium Tanks supporting them followed by the heavy tanks being over all support & breakthrough. I know this isn’t the doctrine but it just makes sense to me.

Insert cybertruck joke. No, seriously, what stands out to me is the welded panels construction and the very sloped front armor. It looks very sleek compared to later tanks, where much of the development involves welding more and more bits of stuff to the outside of it (I guess reaching peak redicilous in 2024 with the russian "turtle tanks")

Question for Stefan: I see that the paint is scraped off from the end of the barrel... Was it common to bury or scrape the gun into the ground by accident, and did this ever cause significant damage to gun barrlels? Thanks for a great channel.

Some details about this tank: - The two MGs were independently fired. The triggers were on the turret's rotation and elevation handles. They were connected to the MGs by Kardan cables. - The radio was a receiver (Fu 2). Only the Panzerbefehlswagen could transmit. - There were only two electrical items in the turret: an overhead lamp, and a socket for headphones.

So the germans had already sloped armor on their tanks long before the russians on their T34?

As Mr. Doyle mentioned, already in the Spanish civil war, the tank proved it was completely undergunned, weakly armoured and the two-man crew insufficient. The fact that Germany resorted to using them in the attacks on Poland and France anyway (where they were very much outdated) came down to disagreement in German command, politics and industry on where to put the focus. Due to the goal of quickly having multiple tank companies, they ultimately went for producing more Panzer 1s and 2s - instead of creating fewer, but better armed formations. While less an issue against Poland, the war in France clearly showed that tanks from the early 30s had no place on a 1940 battlefield.

A critical point that was not mentioned, is that the armor was welded. Most countries tanks at this time and frame and riveted. The frame adds weight, but not protection, and the rivets are a weak point. Learning how to weld armor plates was a key advantage.

Extremely interesting vehicle! Maybe it would be an idea to have a follow-up video that includes more detailed specs about the gun, the armour and the engine. It would also be highly interesting to see how this vehicle did in the field. Does any footage of it exist?

My grandfather, a German-Jew served in the U.S. Army during World War II as an MP because he spoke German. He interrogated the Afrika Korps soldiers who were captured in North Africa. He accompanied them to their POW camp in Alabama. It's strange that the German technology was far advanced past the American and British military. They were so intelligent yet so evil. Satan gave them much knowledge but it wasn't enough. The Jews had to survive and recreate the State of Israel.

Wow, very informative presentation. I’m a retired US Army 11H (Heavy Anti-Armor Weapons Infantryman) where I used the TOW system to engage enemy armor. I served in Aschaffenburg, Germany from 1984-85 and it was common for us to also tie in a cassette player/Walkman to our CVC system (Crew Vehicular Communication) and enjoy some music when appropriate. I operated the M-113 and M-901 ITV but later in my career I transitioned to 11B and trained on the Bradley IFV. For anyone a bit curious of how a conflict would unfold during the Cold War and in Western Europe, check out the fictional book “Team Yankee” which was very accurate on our policies and tactics. The US Army has long forgotten tactics we used to fight the hordes of Soviet armor that would come screaming through Fulda Gap and other avenues, facing 7,000 tanks is no joke and even after constant air strikes, enough can make it through and present a serious threat when they hit our line of defense let alone after their CAS and artillery hit us.
