Saw them in 1977 at Chicago's Superbowl of Rock #1 at Soldiers Field. I still have photos of that day. Climax Blues Band, Foghat, J. Geils Band, and Emerson Lake and Palmer. 70s were the best days.

Foghat was the first concert I went to. Opening acts were Judas Priest with Hell Bent for Leather release and Bachman Turner Overdrive with Street Action and headliner Foghat about to release their Stone Blue album. March 1978. Houston Colosseum and tickets were $7.50. The last concert I went to was Rush 40 anniversary concert, I paid $175.00 for a ticket.

Saw them in Sacramento in '73 before they were really famous. Rare Earth was the headliner but Foghat was far & away the best band in the house.

lonesome dave was amazing, loved his voice and their music. rod's slide work, roger and tony tight as f-ck... you can't beat straight up hard rock and roll.

@@Galaxyman2903 thanks for the info it's been so long since I have heard the foghat live album I remember seeing them in 1977 at soldiers Field there was a super show with Peter Frampton REO Speedwagon journey climax blues band rolling Stones Lynyrd Skynyrd and countless other groups I just can't remember off hand but I do remember that concert 1977 was a exceptional year in Chicago for concerts soldiers Field held 3 the one I just mentioned the second one was Pink Floyd animals tour the 3rd would be Emerson lake and Palmer works volume one but once again thanks for the information

Think Rod usually had his Gibson SG tuned to open E major for the slide work. He would also play the unorthodox chord shapes sometimes using that tuning on some songs: Home In My Hand and Slow Ride come to mind.

1978 Thin Lizzy opened for Foghat. I hear Gary Moore played that night at Wing's stadium in Kalamazoo Michigan. My first concert. I think the ticket cost $3.75. Festival seating, so we were down front. It was an absolutely incredible concert. The first of many. Thanks for sharing this.

I’d hitchhike to Greensboro Coliseum in NC in the 70’s. Bum enough change to see 3 power groups for $7.00…$5.50 for two….. Foghat Montrose Bad Company Thin Lizzy Stix Deep Purple etc., etc, I miss the fellowship. No one out to physically rob anyone , get robbed with ticket prices or overpriced merch . I sure miss them daze. Oh yeah, the drummers would always treat us to a 30 minute solo and bring the house down.
