Dreamer by Foghat

One of my favorite songs by the band. This to me was lead guitarist Rod Price special, playing the acoustic part and standard electric lead guitar. At the end I mixed in a LIVE recording from 1974 during a live radio broadcast. Rod here is playing standard lead, and his ferocious live lead at the end is amazing!

Love this song! A group out of Texas covered this song in 1980 and did a great job. The band is called Vizion and their lead singer is a female. They have a little one minute intro (also called "Vizion") which is excellent. Definitely worth a listen.

Foghat lover here. Question: I see a goldtop on your videos(awesome) but wasn’t Rod usually playing an SG or a double cut Special with humbuckers. typically? I wasn’t lucky enough to see them but his sound seems very consistent.

I know that he played an old early 1960's Gibson SG for his standard leads like here on Dreamer. A white Gibson Double Cutaway Jr. for slide (like you hear on Slow Ride). The black and white one was if I remember correctly was worked on by their guitar tech in the late 1970's, which he used till his death in 2005. He also changed to playing a Fender Strat for standard leads during the 1990's and his solo albums of "Open" and "West Four"

@@Galaxyman2903 SG indeed. Lots of slide on SG also. Lonesome Dave indeed used juniors. double and single. although --I'm pretty sure Rod was using double cutaway specials so he had the neck pickup not juniors a special is .Like a jr with a neck pickup. I believe he changed double cutaway special to humbuckers instead of P-90s.

I don't understand the popularity of 'Slow Ride' . For me three of the first four albums (with Tone Stephens) were the best.
