What if I’m a freelance designer , what kind of work experience do I need to show 😢help me
@MaySunDesignАй бұрын
Hi there, I don’t think there’s much difference in what to showcase. As a freelancer, your client wants to understand your thought process and see that you can successfully launch a product. The distinction between full-time and freelance work lies more in employment policies; however, your portfolio, resume, and interview should remain consistent.

Which software builder do you recommend for the portfolio? I’m confused with all the options we have
@MaySunDesign4 ай бұрын
If you mean a personal website to showcase your portfolio, the easy one to start is Squarespace, or Webflow if you look for more custom interactions. If you want to build your portfolio screens or prototypes, Figma is the go-to design tool.

You're reading from a script while doing a critique that's meant to be improvised.

Every case is very different, hopefully the structure can be a guide before conflict is too deep 😆

This video feels like it was written by AI. To be clear, I'm not knocking the general use of an LLM to write a video script, but I can't help but ask the question: Have you actually experienced a positive impact on the response by hiring managers when they hear candidates give similar answers to the ones you provided as examples of a "Senior designer" answer? The "Senior designer" answers simply rephrased the "Junior designer" answers using bigger words as if they're trying to meet a requirement on a high school paper. Personally, I tend to prefer plain language over superfluous jargon. Using long words unnecessarily feels like overcompensating and trying to *sound* smart. I'm not sure the content in this video is helpful at all.
@MaySunDesign6 ай бұрын
Thank you for the feedback! Accurate use of key words are used to determine levels, don’t want to hide this fact. Totally agree that key words shouldn’t be the only factor, that’s why personal experience, scope and stories are way more important.

Empathy in UX designer is super Data driven, we don't work like psychologists, who deal 1-1. UX is a more for the crowd. using data from MVP apps can play a huge role. If AI can do this, half the UX designers who do basic roles will be off the market. What do you think @MaySunDesign
@MaySunDesign6 ай бұрын
Thanks for your thoughts question! The decision making is empathy+data, so I don’t think AI can ever balance it. If we think about the stretched future, AI can help designers work on the basics, like design libraries, marketing sites or very simple UX/UI. That’s why we need to elevate our design skills to advanced level and double down on user research.

Hi thank you for subscribing! You need both. I have a case study album you might want to checkout. The ppt is when you are invited to on-site interview, and website is to list on your resume, so hiring manager can use it for screening.

Thanks for sharing your case study. The flow was natural and engaging. I liked how you focused on defining the problem and arriving at a solution without distractions like user journey maps, design systems, and wireframes. The goal of connecting entrepreneurs and facilitating knowledge sharing was clear. During your presentation, I thought it would be cool to also have an option for private chat, as some people may prefer one-on-one connections for specific business questions and advice.
