Jalapenos, especially unripe ones, can be quite bitter. That's why I use fresnos instead for anything requiring chilis. That may be where the bitterness of the main dish came from.

Looks like a good ration but kinda sad that they farmed the rations out. I haven't tried one of the new ones but the older green bag versions are/were top notch!
@ytRANDOMCLIPSАй бұрын
I have that same package waiting on my shelf for a review and a video shoot. I previously made a video about the new Lithuanian #23 pack and it was quite disappointing. In my opinion, the older dark green packages were better. These new packages lack that national feature and everything starts to be copies of British products or made by Spain's Jomipsa.
@deliciousMREАй бұрын
Thanks ! well, the green rations had less components and were less diverse, but... it doesn't mean the new will be received as better. Maybe they will have both versions paralelly ?- it would be a nice idea
@ytRANDOMCLIPSАй бұрын
Those green packages have the traditional chocolate package and bagged almonds as side dishes.

True. They really only put them in rations because nuts have an extremely high calorific value.

Hi Delicious....What a great find and interesting ration!...Like yourself, something I've looked for, for many years (but have been unable to find). Very basic in design and looked light in calories for active service men and women?..... What do you think?...did it feel like a filling meal (for a serving soldier out in the field?)... or needed a few more components?...Great review as always my friend....ATB....Mick
@deliciousMRE2 ай бұрын
Good question ! In my opinion it is a kind of snack during a patrol, providing you with some items you can consume without the main meal like nuts, chocolate. It's not much less food than e.g. a regular US MRE, but probably less calories (I haven't checked it), so depending on the physical effort-can be not enough
@leighrate2 ай бұрын
Quick off the top of head my head calculation is: Chocolate: 150 kcal. Pudding: 200 kcal. Grains: 150 kcal. Cashews: 250 kcal. Main meal: 350 - 400Kcal. Cabin bread: 150 kcal. Drink: probably no more than 50 Kcal. So call it 1100 - 1200 kcal. Generally militaries don't like to go below an average of 3.5 kcal per gram (and that's very much on the low side) and prefer to get at least 4.5. The lighter and more energy dense it is, the better.

With the benefit of 20/20 hindsight (or if you're familiar with this ration), the thing to do is put that dry rice dish in with the beef soupy one. For a great hearty meal that is not dry and not watery.

pretty decent MRE except those silly lentiles. It's a birds food not a snack for normal man. As a Latvian I am totally disgusted about this stupid add-on. There are many traditional Latvian snacks which would be much more tasty and efficient than these lentiles.
@deliciousMRE4 ай бұрын
Thanks ! The lentils were weird,but not that bad tasting. What traditional Latvian snacks could be in such ration?

Back in the 80's, the rations included 3 types of drink available - coffee, tea & Tang's orange juice powder. The pineapple jam's packet still have the same design.

This is in a way a funny video - comparing soup with peas with pea soup. The Polish one clearly is in the first category, the Swedish is more to the latter, and the Finnish is in that one. Pea soup is, by the way, not a military thing in Finland. It is something we all eat when we are children, in school, and at work also - usually then having crrepes with whipped cream and strawberry jam as a dessert. That is also normal during our military service.

Hello my friend. I hope all are well. This is Rare, indeed sir. Very nice. The mains are reminiscent of other European rations, Kasha, Etc., just probably taste slightly different? The tea is also different than we are accustomed to. Shame on weak fork and spoon. Many have them these days, as you well know. Beef liver pate, first time I have heard of ? Mongolia: Buddhists 47%, non-religious 39%, Muslims 8%, shamanistic traditions 3%, Christians 2%, others 1%. Livestock raising in Mongolia: sheep’s, goats, cattle, horses and camels ( the 5 animals ) account for 4/5 of the agricultural production. There’s your lack of pork…😁👍

Religions in Mongolia: 47% Buddhist, 39% not religious, 8% Muslim, 3% shamanistic traditions, 2% Christian, 1% other. Livestock raised: Sheep, goats, cattle, horses and camels. Referred to as the “five animals” ( tavan khosuu mal ) they account for 4/5ths of the value of agricultural production in Mongolia. They just don’t raise pigs and I doubt they’re catering to 8% of the populations dietary requirements. 😁👍

Sometimes the milk of quite exotic (at least from a European perspective) animals has been used in those products.
