I know this comment 2yrs in the Future but I read some where years ago that Lennon said this song was actually about a dream he had and the ah ba wah cow wah made no sense but it being sang in the background though out his dream…….pure Lennon genius!

I loved your detailed and on point historical narrative for "Hypnotized", and the knowledgeable explanation of how AOR FM radio fit into the evolution of Fleetwood Mac before the massive breakout into popular AM radio chart success. This lineup of the Mac, and the lineup with Welch and Danny Kirwin, are my absolute favorites. Cheers, SDM @ Deep Nuggets Radio.

If you would like to hear them go fully political, check out their album SHE WAS ONLY A GROCER'S DAUGHTER, which was a full bore, savage attack on Maggie Thatcher and Thatcherism as a whole. One of my TEN ALBUMS ON A DESERT ISLAND choices!

I love your reaction to this song!! This song is so incredible! I always get hyped when it gets to "the moonlight in her hair" 😭😆 I love that you articulated your appreciation of Barry Gibb perfectly!! I just subscribed to your channel! If you take requests, i think you should react to "Heat of the night" by The Bee Gees if you haven't already. It is an unreleased song intended for the "Living Eyes" album. Thanks for posting this video!! ☺

I was never too thrilled by the bridge, as great as Marty's voice is, I felt like he didn't sing that part well (summers coming and its getting wammmmmahhh) and it made the song less pleasing, just my lowly opinion ....but yes, a beautiful song nonetheless. The ending chorus is superb!!

Absolutely! Bo put the fear of God into any band who wanted to cover this song. I don't think I ever heard it covered. I'll tell you this. One of my high school acquaintances had signed up to play the xylophone/marimba in the high school band. After hearing Mr. Wagner, he immediately opted for the saxophone.

And Bo played it in a one-take improv.

I was celebrating my 9th birthday on the day Prince was born (we share the same birthday). In 1958, Tommy Edwards stole my heart and millions more with his beautiful rendition of "It's All in the Game". His gift to us will never die. RIP Tommy. Thanks, Gordo, for presenting the classic music that we love to hear!

Teddy! What the guys would do back then, is go hang outside after one of Teddy's all women concerts and after Teddy had warmed them up, it was like the proverbial fish in the barrel 😂😂😂 No one since then has even come close to what Teddy did to his target audience. Listening to TP shows exactly why this current autotune trend is just plain crap. The plaintiff humanity you hear in his voice, the perfect slightly off pitch notes is pure ecstacy

Ronald LaPread had quite a unique sound that spoke to me but I can't explain what it was, the tone, understated percussive growl something. I agree with you, post commodores I couldn't stand LR solo stuff. Compare his ballads like Endles love 🤮 with Just to be Close to you ❤

Great review. Thanks again. Apparently we are the same age, so your experiences brings back lots of great memories! And you're right, from top to bottom no group had the vocals of the Dramatics back then. The Temps may had the top two or three but not the top to bottom talent of the Dramatics.

See, if you were a devoted Soul Train fan, you'd had known the artist and song. That's why back then Soul Train was must see TV. 😂😂 Yeah, currently people confused this with Curtis Mayfield. But if you were a true Mayfield fan, you'd know it's not a Mayfield song because the lyrics, although great, are not the poetic tour de force of a typical Mayfield song. There's too few verses and the lyrics aren't nearly as abstract as Mayfield's lyrics.

Great reaction, and I absolutely loved the way you explained how we discovered music back then. And boy, did we study those album covers, right! What you experienced when you first heard that album is something current listeners are missing. That's the way the songs are placed on the album, including small connecting interludes that aren't heard when listening to the songs separately. It puts you in a special place. Btw the Chicago EWF connection is strong since both groups are from Chicago and Bill Chaplain of The group Chicago wrote EWF'S "After the love is gone" Not to mention, they have toured together since 2004. Maurice couldn't perform by then but still a mind blowing concert. You can find the full EWF Chicago concert on YT. When they play together with all those horns combining is pure magic. They are also currently touring together in 2024 BTW, if you haven't heard them, Leonid and Friends are the absolute best when creating EWF songs, even the Bailey driven tunes!

I was 19 when this came out and bought it at the record co I worked at. They played a few on fM radio then but I bought it. And when the mind wobbled as a young mans often does Lover Boy gave you some not so nice ideas in the city. And we all knew guys like that. I think there was a book, "How to pick up chicks and score w/girls" or something like that. In a way that is what the song is about. Ahem, "He used to have a problem but he got it fixed..." Yeah. Captured a piece in time.
