Thank you Laly. I just found this tutorial now. I am very keen to make my first journal!!! I am really a beginner, so will be following you!!! May i ask what thread you used, please?
@LalyMilleArtsАй бұрын
I used some regular thread. The one they sell for jeans or upholstery works great as it's thick enough.

Tour collage basket inspired me to start one too! tfs

Thank you for the tutorial. I like your binding that allows the pages to lay flat. That'll be a learning curve for me as I've not used that binding method. I would like to cover the outside binding stitches, but wonder if it would lay flat after doing that.
@LalyMilleArtsАй бұрын
If you cover it something loose and flexible enough, that shouldn't be a problem. Let me know how it goes!

I am very inspired by this piece Laly. Should I gesso my canvas before I would begin this project?
@LalyMilleArts3 ай бұрын
Hi! No you don't need to gesso your canvas. I teach this technique in detail in my online art class "Soulful Abstracts", which opens once a year, if you like you can get on the waiting list here: www.lalymille.com/soulful-abstracts

With YOU... are, the spirits, that guide your art, of who you really are, and expressions of one true self is "beautiful", just like these pages!!! I discovered you, five years ago, and when I look at mixed media artists on here, you always show!!! I love your works, and right now, I'm having a book of same format, to create myself some, that has the tonality of yours...and, it's not gonna be easy...coz it's you, not me, on my pages!

I hope you will love creating your pages, in your own unique way 😊

Lady, thank you so much for the clear and concise instructions for making a beautiful journal. I’ve never done the Kettle Stitch. Not only does the journal lay flat, the binding is beautiful. I struggled with the Coptic stitch, and I like the look of this. Thank you, again.

Thank you so much Laly for all of these little tips n tricks! I only wish I had room on my work table for even a tiny basket to toss little bits in. Seriously, my work table, and studio in general, is very small. But alas, I know I am so fortunate to have a little space to call my own. So I guess I need to get to tossing out really old unused ephemera, and in with more usable items. Thanks again.

Decluttering will give you more space for sure! Why not keep a small basket on the floor or hang one from the ceiling? 😉
