What i don't understand about overlanders. Is why they waste the money they do. Cuz I think most people doing it probably won't go out and pound their vehicles around more than 10 or 20 times a yr. Then what are they doing the rest of the yr. Driving it to the grocery store and work. So that high clearance vehicle is wasting more tread and gas on pavement then on rough back country trails. Or driving around with a roof top tent wasting more gas. It just don't make sense to me. I'm in the back country at least 3 to 4 days a wk. I ride an atv that was made for rough trails. My pickup never gets pounded around it's never been stuck. The last thing I'll say is that vehicles are not cheap today don't matter what vehicle you choose. So why beat it up on rough trails when an atv that costs so much less and was made to go farther in the back country unless you plan on spending 10s of thousands to be able to go were an atv can. And see some of the best places you'll ever lay your eyes on.

Pecron E1000LFP has 20A 12V DC output. E1500LFP has 30A 12V DC output. ...both via XT60. So far, E1500LFP lacks the ability to adjust AC input charging, which is a huge bummer.

A great video which told me a lot about the history of overloading. It brought back many memories of the time I undertook my own overland journey in 1970, when aged twenty I traveled 12,000 miles from London to Cape Town crossing the Sahara and the treacherous roads across the Equatorial jungle of the Congo in an ex-army 3-Ton Bedford RL four wheel drive lorry.

As to your question about motion detection, you can put fishing line around trees or mount sticks in the ground, then, rig up a rape whistle(Vigilant PPS-9 135dB Personal Alarm) to them. In the dark, fishing line(green)cannot be seen and when someone walks through the fishing line, the whistle is loud enough to scare the begezus out of them or an animal. Thus, the action of the whistle placed away from you gives you seconds to react to what's pending. I keep battery operated motion lights behind the fishing line(and one directly in front of the tent) at the right distance to where at the time they trip the whistle, the motion lights appear at the same time.(Place the fishing line 10 to 12 inches off the ground so that human or animal won't step over), it'll be in the dark, so they won't notice it anyway.(Do this in four quadrants so you know which direction the threat is coming from).(Ex: I...I,I....I,I....I,I....I) These two deterrent's are more than enough to warn anything that crosses them that you are more serious about security than your average camper. As an added bonus, I install a bear fence inside of the fishing line and whistle just in case an animal doesn't get the message. If a human(or animal) crosses these barriers and is intent on getting to your tent, I think it is much more of a case for you if you should have to explain to the authorities why you had to dispatch of the threat. (Yes in some areas you are allowed to carry). Motion lights must be placed at least 7 to 10 yards behind the wire due to their sensitivity. I know all of this is a lot but, when camping alone(or with another), it's better to get to your camp site way earlier than just simply pitching a tent thus, making your night(s) more comfortable knowing that you're not playing with animals or humans when you set up your camp. Let all that witness know that you're not THAT guy to be messing around with les they want to suffer the consequences of what that person who set up that rig is all about. Be safe out there! P.S- Trail cameras add another comfort level as you can see who is approaching your area. Those can be mounted by tri-pod so you don't have to worry about finding a tree. Place the trail camera towards the mouth of your tent so that you can see before sticking your head out, what's there. I keep an apple iPad charged(RAVPower Prime 32000mAh 3 Port Power Bank RP-PB064) and the app open.(Disable sleep mode)

Really, really enjoyed your video. As an older guy who's watched a lot of videos with rigs that have everything it's refreshing to hear your advice about the basics and just getting out there. It can be intimidating to start if you think you need a $150k van or 4x4 with all the gadgets. And pretty funny too. Especially the pack list with "Wife, Dog 1, and Dog 2" at the top. I like your style! Keep up the good work.

Just make sure you have decent tires, breaks, and shocks, and keep up with basic maintenance on your 4WD. Back when i was a kid, we just called it camping. We did it a lot because it was cheap, we didn't feel the need to strap thousands of dollars of crap all over our rig.

This is the kind of product i really hate having a built in battery inside. The number of devices that have failed from limited seasonal use (looking at you Biolite Lantern). I know others seek it out. But I would have preferred this was USB C live powered, or rechargeable AA powered. I would much rather provide a USB source through cable or power bank.

Amazon calls this a “reclining camping chair”; however, I didn’t see that capability in the demo. I know that the sister chair-the 400-lb capacity version-IS a reclining camping chair. Clarification?

Really great job on these videos. I’m loving the careful and detailed explanation at a pace that one can follow. I do have a question. If you make a change on the web version related to layers for instance, does that change carryover to the mobile version if both devices are signed into my account?
@ggg4runnerАй бұрын
If you're talking about offline data on your mobile then no, changes on the web version do not automatically sync. You'd have to download a new offline map to change available offline layers. If you're talking about layer changes in regards to just what you're viewing while online, also no. Changing what layers you're using on mobile or web won't affect each other. The only data that syncs across both platforms is the data that you actually create and/or import like waypoints, routes, etc.

I know I'm 10 months late but ... The 2nd chair won't work. Why? Many thieves or harassing people will case out what you have; if they never see a 2nd person, they know there's only one. Cameras - thieves want them too and will steal ones that can be easily accessed. Bear spray is not too large to carry and is very effective on people (and bears); I use a belt mounted holster. In order to purchase bear spray in my province, I need to declare that I *won't* use it on a person. Don't stay in dispersed camping areas close any town; that's where the harassers and thieves live. Hand guns are not allowed in our Provincial or National Parks. Plus, you better have the proper paper work (to cross the border) or be charged with smuggling AND have your gun confiscated. Pepper spray (mace) is not legal in Canada but bear spray is. From Hill Street Blues ... "be safe out there." Edit: I was followed for miles on the Alaskan Highway in a remote section. I slowed down, he slowed down. I sped up, he sped up. I decided to pull over, he pulls over. I walk away from my vehicle to see if he is still following - he was, so I made an abrupt change in direction and observed what he was doing. Turned out the guy admitted he was following me but for a reason. He was a dealer of the trailer I was towing and wanted to know how I liked it. Go figure.
