Cuando es conveniente eliminar el óxido?....el óxido puede degradar el metal y debilitar el componente hasta romperse....👋🚴🇲🇽
@NiceBikeServiceКүн бұрын
En este tipo de piezas, el óxido es más bien un defecto estético. Hacen falta muchos años y condiciones de humedad para que una pieza se oxide y se rompa

En la lavadora ultrasónica, agua y limpiador de motores de automoción. En el vídeo, se utilizó ácido cítrico para eliminar el óxido (disponible en nuestras tiendas de comestibles). easiest way to service these , just spray some brake cleaner near the seals and all the dirt and crude will come loose and do this 2 or 3 times. Clean and wipe the residuals off with a rag then follow up with some silicone spray.

how many time did you spend to clean an altus? because new one spend only 15€ and your time spend most... ? i'm curious bcs i'm bike mecanics man
@stevengagnon47772 күн бұрын
That was alot of time. Retired bicycle mechanic hear. I hated seeing derailleurs in the parts washer and personally avoided it. Once you do this the derailleurs need to be fully disassembled , specifically the cage pivot ( although since the pivot bushing is metal with plastic drip lube will help ) and upper B- tension pivot. There is no lubricant left in these pivots now and the springs are bare too. It won't take long exposed to the conditions that caused this for the pivots to corrode and siese up making the derailleurs useless. If I needed to do this for a bicycle restoration for later sale. I pulled those pivots apart (even with the plastic cage pivot) and greased everything including the springs. Then greased all the hardware while reassembling including the pully bushings since drip lubes don't work for the long run in these pully bushings ether. I even had a mixture of ATF ( natural mineral oil automatic transmission fluid) with a small amount of Lucas Red "n" Tacky to make it more viscous, then a tiny bit of STP oil treatment to for the creeping property to get that stuff to flow into the bushings that I couldn't take apart. Hence avoid the parts washer. By the way that Lucas Red n Tacky is a decent bearing grease...it will even hold up to a couple of winters of hard core commuting and excellent flow properties. Plus it holds up well to the heat transferd to the hub bearing next to a disk since it's a high temperature disk brake grease. It can easily be found near by in the USA.

Excellent work. I'd rather apply phosphoric acid to remove rust, it has more steel protection capabilities.

The weird thing is that the damage is not evenly distributed. I am curious about the state of the chain which was used to cause such a damage to a freehub body.

For some reason, this bushing manufacturer has a high percentage of defective freehubs. The bike was used for one season, the chain and cassette were still in good condition
