More grease...fill the cups, the voids in the retainer , place the retainer in the cups and fill . Get the inside edge of the dust shield and smear the entire steel steering tube to keep it from corrosion and so there is a thin layer between the stem and alloy head set parts. After it's all assembled and adjusted all the excess grease can be wiped away. This will really make a difference and prevent this from happening again. This method will ensure there is grease where the edges of the dust shield and metal head set parts meet. If that is left dry then water will get in again and start the whole process of degradation over again. With an excess of grease that boundary will stay filled with grease for a long time and continue to uzz out over time and delay the process as it's doing that. The excess that comes out of the headset will also carry contaminants out of the bearing too. I've done this for decades and it really extends the intervals of overhauling the headset significantly in terms of years to a decade or so. Regular cleaning of the bike will take care of the little bit of grease that keeps coming out. This I do with most bearings on a bicycle...keep in mind as long as there is some grease escaping the bearing the rest inside is still clean. I do live in the rust belt of the USA and we use a lot of salt in the winter. But this will also help with a bicycle that is stored outside. Good video, keep your trust in the Lord ,do what is right as no other can deliver. God Bless You All

If you apply too much grease, it will flow out and get on the brake disc.

@@NiceBikeService never had that problem with the thousands of bikes I built like this. Usually used heavy duty grease with a high viscosity ( preferably marine) for this type of headset since it doesn't need to spin 360° each rotation.. Most of those bikes have the original headset yet and working fine. This kind of headset was a quick disassemble and repack during assembly.

Il faut tellement d’outils pour monter un jeu de direction ! Pour le remontage (démontage aussi d’ailleurs), attacher la fourche au cadre avec une sangle de cale pied permet de tenir le tout en place et de libérer les 2 mains.

The easy way to place the fork cone, is to have the fork with the tool upside down and to knock on the ground. The weight of the fork does the job.

Ja bym nie żałował smaru. Przesmarowałbym też nim (cieniutką warstwą) część sztycy widelca. (Od dołu.) Poza tym "good work". 😁 👍🙋 Jak zwykle dobrze się ogląda Twoje filmiki.

Is grease really expensive where you are located?? One benefit of caged bearings is you can fill the cage with grease, not sure why you don't. Guess you want that customer to come back sooner than later.....

Apparently, the grease disappeared due to riding in the rain or washing the bike with Karcher

I don't understand why you felt the need to sand it, it would have been better for the part to fit tightly. It fell into place very easily with a plastic hammer.
@NiceBikeService5 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comment. There was paint residue inside the frame and a rough edge. After using the tools as in the video, the fitment size will not change and the pressed cup will fit evenly

The frame of this Ardis bike looks like new. Is it victim of DH?
@NiceBikeService5 ай бұрын
It's unlikely that the ardis will be able to do the DH. The Karcher or bad weather is most likely to blame😸
