What brand of dummy are you using? I cant find dummies we used to use for Kempo where the arms are same height. The wing chun dummies arms are too narrow and u equal height. Thanks.

In our Kenpo training we take our strikes to the ground with us. Various parts of standing techniques can be implemented on the ground. When I first watched UFC I saw a lot of roundhouse punches to the ribs while on their back and their opponent in mount with very little effect. I said someone needed to show them hammer fist to the ribs as it was a much stronger strike. Years later I see fighters throwing hammer fists to their opponents while on the ground as well as hammering fists and elbows from above.

Lol like 6 times in this technique you give your back to someone who has given you their back. 1 elbow would end it but do your fancy 32 move strikes....

Only time he turns his back to the aggressor is when he’s doing a spinning hook kick(which every spinning attack you turn your back. Yet it’s constantly done in mma). AND when he does the spin. The guys back is to him. So bad guy can’t even take advantage.

I learned the importance of the left hand at the point of reference for whipping while delivering the right uppercut when my partner violently bent over and I was able to whip out to the side of his head to avoid an accidental headbutt. The fact that I learned on a completely different technique showed me the importance of this position. Very good video. Thanks.

This was the explanation I was given years ago that helped me explore different uses for the same tools. The upward block becoming a close quarters forearm strike up under the chin is great stuff. Your pratical approach to applying forms and techniques shows how Kenpo can and does work in real situations. Thank you.

To answer the question at 2:40 I'd say, overhaul the basics. I've personally upgraded my manual to include "ground" basics as well. "Saul Robiero's-Jiu-Jitsu University" is a very good bible to use. My approach personally is, not to take it to the ground. But be the one who gets back up from it. Remember, you're always fighting more than 1 person! Unfortunately I don't see many ground instructors include this concept. On that note, the shoot and takedown is a very explosive movement when done correctly also understanding that it's not done from across any room. By those who train with it shows us how near in distance it's actually used. This gray area really needs to be payed attention to. So us stand up fighters better learn something about it bc criminals are sure doing it! Good job MT........

even though I was not over joyed with your warm up video I jumped down to the technique videos, 7 being the next one I watched. I have to say I enjoyed watching. I enjoy watching the stick work combined with Kenpo and you do it very well.
@cagedraptor5 жыл бұрын
Doing Arco, the twirling of the stick, your hand shouldn't be open like that. Any strike while your hands open like that the stick will surly fall out. Do Arco with a closed fist. One good crack on your hand or arm while your doing your gymnastics with that stick and it's all over. Not a big deal if your doing your martial arts for show but if it is for real having your hand open like that is a big mistake. Only my personal experience comment not to be rude or for the sake of making a negative comment. I feel like my expertise in most everything is very limited but deep down I really feel like I'm skilled in a few things and when I see what I consider a ill advised movement I feel compelled to comment. I do the same thing when I see, what I consider crappy, Ukemi as well.
