That’s from Antonio Meccariello. He’s among the finest shoemakers in the world. He has a similar shoe design but as an adelaide, great stuff.

So hard to decide to go slightly smaller or slightly bigger. The smaller one made from björn borg is kind of hanging out on the sides but the slightly bigger one is a bit too long and could stretch a bit as well... i dont know... the bigger one is 43 and smaller is 42 and the 43 looks better in size to my body. SO HARD!

Can you please elaborate on a comment you replied to me once, but I never followed up to enquirer about? It was about Weatherproof leather, I own a pair of Hamilton Weatherproof Oxford Dress Boot, you said it’s not optimal kind of leather. What is weatherproof leather? And what makes it inferior? I’m just curious and want to be aware for personal knowledge and future purchasing advice, Thank you.

Diid the boots from Carmina really show up new, looking like that?
@Shellvedge23 күн бұрын
@@mtbokor1969 yeah. I mean honestly it’s not a complete failure as it should still be a solid boot for a very long time. It was more than anything just a big disappointment as you’d expect better especially on the MTO range. But hopefully they’ve gotten things all organized and operating as usual
@mtbokor196922 күн бұрын
@@Shellvedge I understand why you would be disappointed. Whether it’s ready to wear or custom-made, we all have an expectation for how things should show up and that brands are going to have some sort of quality assurance before they ship us things. I’ve had my own issues with Carmina on a pair of custom shoes that had less than satisfactory stitching

My best pre-owned shoes are probably the 6 pairs of vintage dress shoes in various leathers that I've thrifted by Dack's, Alden, Hartt, and Florsheim. But my favourite one is the Fiorentini + Baker calfskin engineer boots that I grabbed for under $100 Canadian and looked brand new with a clean and polish

Great video/info. Minor critique - your background music either needs to be a bit louder or off - it's right at that volume where I keep thinking "is there music playing somewhere?"
@jaimemackenzie572Ай бұрын
I really appreciate you taking the time to make a video about this. Just as a piece of constructive criticism, saying ‘This right here…" and then not pointing at anything is really confusing. You did a couple of similar things through the video and it got quite confusing!

Great Job. I was at the Stitchdown Bootcamp 2024 and Brian the Bootmaker was there. Since I have a slightly arthritic knee and can't wear heavy boots. I brought a scale with me to weight the boots. Surprisingly, the role club size 8 1/2 wasn't that heavy, it weighed 1lb 13oz with a leather sole. That is about what a Grant Stone diesel boot weighs. In my size (9 1/2 Bannock), it would come in under 2 pounds for each boot...very wearable.

For what it's worth (which is nothing) I personally like Blake stitching so that the shoe is more stylish looking. Mainly for formal events and if you're going out and want to look your best. Bruno Magli comes to mind. Fine Italian construction, comfortable, sleek and stylish. I also like the Goodyear stitch for durability. Its the workhorse. The Norwegian, to me, falls into the similar category as the Goodyear but with a very obvious unique look. It may grow on me.

Is this only useful for cordovan leather? Would it help remove creases from Horween chromexcel?
@ShellvedgeАй бұрын
@@groovemerchant99 it will not. It doesn’t remove creases it smooths out the rolling folds that cordovan is known for. It can be used on some vegetables tanned horse rump that contains shell to address indented scuffing, but not necessarily meant for anything but shell. Chrome tanned leathers are not meant to be treated with sleeking or polishing tools. They’re actually ironed if I recall correctly although you should double check on chrome tanned leather.

I get that the video is about men’s wear, but what do you do to stop razor burns? I’ve used single blades, expensive razors, electric razors, etc.. still get bumps. I believe coarse hair may differ from thin fine hair but any tips, this is weird but nice head, also ordering online makes it hard to get the right sizes sometimes
@ShellvedgeАй бұрын
@@alphaa1xgene hey man, yeah I’m right there with you. I’d say no to Electric, flimsy safety razors and anything that is advertised as 4/5 & more blades to create an “ultra smooth” shave. In my experience, the razor burn and ingrown hairs come from the pulling of the hairs when you shave. So anything that doesn’t create a sharp clean cut of the hair, but tugs and cuts, will cause it. I change between a safety razor and Gillette skin guard (I think it has 2 blades).but the ultimate factor is applying warm water first, shave cream, and using a good brush applicator to soften and prep the hair. No fully avoiding it if you’re shaving your head, but it can be minimized a lot
