Rose Anvil looks at the construction alone and not how comfortable the boots are or it's purpose. Redwings are for hard working people while Aldens are pure dress shoes for those who can afford them. It's like comparing a Ford truck to a Bentley. Rose Anvil knows NOTHING about standing on your feet all day or logging on a remote mountain side somewhere up north. Take his advice with a grain of salt and as he keeps alienating boot lovers with his criticism of the boots they just spent a whole few days of pay on, his viewership will go down. I buy what I can afford and don't really care what Rose Anvil has to say, and I would love to buy some Aldens or other classy dress boots. Buy what you want and know that the toughest boots aren't the most comfortable or the best looking. Just be grateful that you have boots!

Hello. I would really love to get someone’s advice on something: I got myself a pair of Meermin shell cordovan boots a while ago, and they have developed a sort of grainy texture on some parts of the shell (like little white balls), especially towards the back. It’s not as slick and smooth as when new. Why does this happen? What can I do to fix or reduce this?

Here’s my qualm with Japanese boots. The PNW companies are very transparent about how and what they use in their construction. The Japanese boots are heavily white labeled . Meaning John Lofgren for example doesn’t actually make boots. Clinch I believe is a smaller operation/shop

ACME communication is still intermittent. My first expereince w the brand was great. Arthur was spot on. THe last few months it is terriible and getting a response within 24-48 hours doesnt typically happen. I ordered 4 pairs from their RTW sample sale and they have taked 4-6 weeks to deliver which is absurd considering they were already made. I did add tips and topy. If you don't ask, you won't know when your shoes ships bc they dont email to tell you. Even with these frustrations, ACME makes amazing shoes. I have 5 pair in the closet with 2 on the way. I am sure there will be more

I have a pair of reasonably nice leather boots from Thursday. I currently use a basic cedar shoe tree but the boots are getting creases in the vamp. Thursday want $58 for a cheap looking set made in China. I would pay that price for something of decent quality however. Please chime in if anyone has anyone has suggestions!

Spooky - this popped up in my feed as I happen to be wearing a pair of 93605s from 1968! As we know from Japanese blogs such as pastor-kuromame, the padded, suede tongue was only used from 1962-74. The best conditioning product for Horween shell cordovan is the one they use themselves - Venetian Shoe Cream.

@@yavuzkilic1223 the piece of wood cost less than $100, but it has to be crafted by a skilled woodworker into the final product. That’s what costs $100. 😉
@yavuzkilic1223Ай бұрын
@@Shellvedge the amount of time spent by the skilled woodworker into making each piece sure is valuable, however I would not like to think it would take too long to make one of these pieces...besides it just is simply way too much for a piece of wood to spend on which many people can buy 3 or 4 pairs of shoes for this amount spent! if you say this is only for very rich people with more money than sense then I agree...

Stain / dark spot on the vamp of the right boot? One may or may not expect better clicking at the 2000$ price point.
@ShellvedgeАй бұрын
@@TartuWolfEE yeah maybe if it’s a dress boot or anything but what it is. It’s a boot with a huge leather footprint and the reality is that it’s not always practical to throw out an entire hide because of one spot. You don’t really want to mix and match cuts from various hides as the figuring of the leather, temper and thickness will all vary hide to hide. Either way, I’ve worn them for over a year and zero issues or concerns. They’re the boot I pick 9/10 times over my clinch when I go to grab a pair of engineers, and I think that’s what matters when spending this type of cash. Do you want to and will you wear them? The answer is yes and yes. If you’re buying these type of boots for another reason, then you may have different buying decisions.
