I steer clear of Victor-Reinz. Rebuilt a BBC a couple years ago. The rear main looked funny to me. I measured it. It was .020" too big on the crank side. Had I not noticed that, can you imagine how much oil would have been dumped all over the clutch, bell housing, and floor? Then pulling the motor again and replacing it and everything else to get to it? I "attempted" to contact Victor Reinz. US offices, European office, e-mails... I got no response. Totally unacceptable. The vendor I bought the gasket set from? They said the only way they could do anything was to return the entire gasket set... Resolution? Bought a Felpro rear main at the local parts store. What a fiasco. I won't buy Victor-Reinz unless I am in a spot where it is the only brand available.

Nice to see the gender role being broken. It is possible to work clean. A good technoque for pressing in the oil seal, much better than hammering and hoping. However, the number of special tools used to get to the oil seal shows how out of touch modern car design is from the folk who have to work on their stuff...by design of course

What a stupid worthless video. Some commentary would have been so much better than that music. Evplain which way the gasket goes on. What was she spraying on it to clean it.

I was hoping to see a better design of the dispenser end so that u don't use it once and it hardens up that u cannot squeeze any out next time u use it. This video is useless.

Do not touch cleaned area with fingers, you could leave fingerprints or grease from the fingers. Engine must be rotated few revolutions with PTFE seals installed to leave sealing material on shaft and after that engine must be turned off for 4 hours in certain temp range. This video is not explaining the right procedure so do not follow this.

Can someone confirm if the bolts should be oiled? I’m worried lubricating the treads would alter the torque needed.
@vevos_ Жыл бұрын
It depends on the engine! Check a workshop manual for your car/engine (+the version of the engine and perhaps the year it was made). In the case of my car's engine you screw the bolts un-oiled.

This is a dumb video that is not helpful at all. There were no tips, and you can hardly call it a tutorial if you don't provide any instruction.

Ya right! Ridiculous video.. she had that in and out in 2 minutes. If this was about the spray she was using. Then ok.for anyone who never done this before ..stop and call someone or go garage. This isn’t like changing a tire. It can be extremely frustrating for even the most experienced mechanics. Now consider you don’t have a lift or a crew of people to take everything off to get to the manifold and loosen all your bolts for you and steam clean the engine before you even attempt it .. you most likely will break bolts . Then your screwed because they will be hardened and nearly impossible to drill out without a carbide bit or to burn it out. Bottom line this isn’t easy at it looked and you could end up much worse off then when you started

bought a Victor Reinz full gasket set last year for a BBC. I like to compare new parts with old parts. Just something I learned the hard way. The rear main seal did not look right. I put it together on the crank and found that the seal lips did not even touch the crank. If I had just put this motor together and put it back in the car, I would have had a massive oil leak. I tried to contact Victor reinz and got NO response. All I could think was how many guys put motors together with this (wrong) seal. I never buy Victor reinz anything anymore. Anyone (whoever put the kit together) can make a mistake. My problem is Victor reinz simply did not care.
