Love the water slides. Wish all ships had them to be honest. Also the tequila bar would 100% be a feature for us, the margarita menu looked delicious 😁😎

Msc ships are so much nicer than p&o ships, i wont be useing P&O again after trying MSC and going on Virtuosa.

This was a really interesting watch, not sure we've ever seen an interior design quite like it!! The outer decks look really appealing, but the interior looks ghastly. Apparently there are more than 1 million different colours, we reckon they've used every one on this ship. Even though the interior isn't to our taste, we would give it a try :)

@@sailawaymag 🤣🤣. I know what you mean some real interesting contrast of colours…very dark in places and bright in others. I actually had a good feel about the ship while onboard, would love to go on the newer carnival ships to compare. As always thanks for watching supporting the channel!

Great video & packed full of information and the principles can be applied to most cruise lines although P&Os bar prices are the cheapest we have seen and was a nice surprise when we sailed at Christmas. We definitely saved money paying as we went but only one of us really drinks (John 👀). We have been so used to always having a drinks package as part of the booking incentive or in Yacht Club that Arvia was the first time we had to really think about it. We decided to pay as we went and didn’t regret it. We did alter our behaviour a bit, only picked the drinks we knew we liked rather than experimenting and trying out every cocktail (usually wasting a lot). We also got a bottle of wine with dinner, and would fill our glasses and take to the next venue. I would then have a coffee and John pints but we had enough to drink and had as much as we wanted. I feel if we had the drinks package we may be more annoyed with how slow it was to get a drink sometimes, especially in the Club House but on pay as you go you save money and sometimes skip that last drink you didn’t really need 😂

Having the drinks package in yacht club is such a plus! I think at some point in future will get the package just to compare, still think pay as you go will be the way forward!

Thanks for the heads up, we were just about to book a cruise on Arvia but didn't want the extra cost of 'select price' and would of been happy for a P&O allocated standard balcony, but suspect that deck 8 is allocated to those not wishing to pay the extra £hundreds. So we are holding off for now/may chose a different ship/cruise line.

Before we knew we loved to cruise, 20 years ago we watched Queen Elizabeth 2 and Queen Mary 2 sail away from New York, I think it was QE2 last transatlantic, there were fireworks in the harbour near the statue of liberty and we paid to watch it on some sightseeing boat, all I can remember about it now, was it was so cold, I’m sure it was snowing 😂 We would kill to see something like that now 😂

The biggest change for us was the fact that we used to get the Refresh package for the kids free of charge with each paying adult. We tend to book 2 cabins, father and son in one and mum and daughter in the other (next to each other or opposite), but now we have to pay full adult price for both kids which is ridiculous. Of course if we all shared one cabin, we'd only have to pay for 2 adults and the kids drinks would be free, can't see the logic as we're already paying more to have 2 cabins!

Hey thanks for watching and commenting. Until I started researching the packages for this video I wasn’t aware of this and to be honest I was amazed. Like you probably in next few years will start having separate cabins and it seems crazy that a child would have to pay full price but benefit little from it! Seems a bit unfair on single parents as well, not a good change. Would this make think twice about the package?

@@cruisingwiththe4bs We stumbled across it when looking to book a 2026 cruise, the price to add drinks was double what we paid on our last one so I thought I'd better look into the new T&Cs. This made me panic as were going on Iona in August and I was hanging fire to buy the drinks package onboard with our OBC and didn't want to pay double, so I ended up paying for the drinks package on my card in 'My P&O Cruises' as that still was showing at the price we paid last time, so they obviously honour it on existing bookings! Phew..... 😅 The only problem now will be stopping the kids from spending all the OBC at the giftshop! 😉

Been crossing on her for 20 years. On her now for the last time. Nothing like it used to be. The service is now TERRIBLE. Cannot even book online. Web site all broken. The food is awful. Many complaints about the service. American government should be ashamed of themselves ... making us queue for hours waiting for immigration in Brooklyn. The Brits do it on board. Arrival last Saturday was hours late after she broke down near Newfoundland westbound. Breaking down an average of every 4 crossings. World Cruise used to be on my bucket list. Not any more.

Dont think you mentioned that the drinks package resrict you to 15 drinks over a given period ( 24 hours i think) basic rule is you need to drink 8/9 drinks per Day to make it viable , after that your in pocket !!

We were amazed that you could take alcohol on! Talking as someone who used to work on ships, trying to get any alcohol on was a challenge! I think we'd take a package on a hot cruise, but definitely not on a cold one. Were not posh coffee drinkers. There are some crazy rules within the P&O packages! Great breakdown and one we'll be returning to before we cruise with P&O again. Cheers 🍻

Excellent job. I wish I had seen it before we went. Not that we missed out on much, because we tried to cram everything we could into it. Very very very much enjoyed it. A couple of the attractions on deck 19 were still not done. However they're still working on them. Very excellent video and explanation.

Thank you for sharing your experience. As a rookie cruiser , I had made a bunch of plans concerning how I was going to "drink like a fish & eat like a pig" , neither of which happened. We did very much enjoy our time on-board Sun Princess. The food was amazing , the drinks were great, and the service was spectacular. The worst part of the entire cruise was when we had to leave. I am already looking at booking another cruise. ( probably when the house is done being built) . I can barely wait. Good job on the eating component of your cruise experience.

@@rtriplett3135 we loved Princess Sun, been on twice now and I think you do get a good all rounder with them. We love formality of Cunard, love the fun of MSC, P&O can be great value for money, Royal is great but pricey these days. I would say if like Princess maybe try some of there other ships, Star the sister ship is out next October?

We don’t think it’s a bad think that they’ve changed the rules. Do any other cruise lines allow you to take spirits on board? We only ever take a couple of bottles of wine and we’re happy with that. The drinks package isn’t worth it for us
