Avoid Wasting Money: Princess Plus & Premier Guide

We are going to Hawaii on 16 day cruise so got the Premier . Because if we want to get room service and have water in our room ( we just ask for bottle of water) instead of buying it for our room. We went on Alaska cruise we wasted money on having it ordered for our room.

We are Platinum level on Princess. We buy wifi for one device, and usually have several sodas on a cruise. I calculate that both my wife and I would need to have 3 drinks each per day to break even on the Plus package. We're not big drinkers and maybe have a few drinks each on the entire cruise and one visit to Alfredo's. I may try the Plus package on a 7-day. I'm sure we would have a few more drinks if they were included. Not sure if we would average 3 each per day. Problably yes if the cruise had more sea days.

looking at the princess plus drinks package T&C's, non alcoholic drinks are not counted towards the 15 drinks per day, so you can have unlimited soft drinks

Great overview, Tom! I used Princess Plus when I cruised to Alaska on Discovery Princess, and really rated it. I do think people must find all of these different packages SO confusing - must be a nightmare keeping track of everything!

For anyone new to cruising, this is so helpful! Our preference is Princess Plus, as we feel that this offers the best compromise when weighing up value for money and our drink preferences. Ona separate note, did Ernest do any of the complimentary exercise classes? He’s still so skinny despite all the extra charge desserts 🤣🍨

@@jimerin3533 Having one or two special dining experiences is good for me. Makes them... well, special. The MDR is a pleasure to dine in. It's of the big reasons we cruise on Princess. So I don't feel like I'm missing out. It Is nice to have a special dinner at the Crown Grill or Sabatini's but it might not be so special if I went there every night. Also if package holders are going to to specialty dining most nights of the cruise, that's going to create a low supply of reservations. There are a limited amount of tables. It will be hard for anyone, let alone those who didn't buy a package to get even one meal at speciality dining. That's a shame.

No brainer that bundling is going to cheaper. The meals at the main dining room were fabulous and I don’t see a need to visit any of the special restaurants. As long as you are not a drunk you can get by with the standard package and pay as you go. Getting an international cell plan is cheaper than the ship wifi and you will have phone service in every port.

I am going on Sky Princess in August and am considering having a princess premier for me and my wife. question is what does my son who is 19 and my daughter is 10 do .can my son have Princess Plus and my daughter have a soda package and if so does this include gratuities

@@warrioreatscheese8389 hi thanks for watching, only the first two guests are required to have the plus if one guests has decided to purchase this. The 3rd and 4th guests are not required to get it, if want to add just a drinks package then you need to contact Princess. This how I understand it. Plus and premier includes gratuities, not sure on purchasing drinks package alone I imagine not.

Crew appreciation is not included in our plus package. There's an 18% service fee which takes it up to $76.70 USD = $1074USD = $1659AUS per couple 7 days. Our crew appreciation is $225 = $348AUS

@@MyMarleyMagoo For Aus cruisers no, CA isn't included. But it works out much the same as the Plus package for Aus cruisers is $65aud which is just over $40usd. Add $16usd for CA and you're still paying less than they pay in the US. In the case of a cruise actually in Aus waters there is no CA/tips etc required. (You can of course tip if you want).

This is the reply from Princess Since the Currency on board is USD for your booking, the crew Appreciation is automatically added to the guest shipboard account folio. Packages (Plus/Premier) do not include crew appreciation for AU/NZ guests. If guests wish to have this amount adjusted or removed and offer a tip at their discretion, they are welcome to do this at the Purser's desk once onboard
