Pete was OK for the type of material the Beatles were doing in the early days, but he could never have handled the type of material they were doing on Abbey Road or Sergeant Pepper. Pete was not a terrible drummer, he was OK, but, as they said, Ringo was better. The only tragedy is that none of pete's subsequent groups had any success, with the possible exception of his 2008 album "Hayman's Green."

I just saw an interview with Pete Best, and he said that when they signed with Brian Ebstein, Brian never signed the contract himself. Therefore, your theory is wrong. None of the Beatles were officially signed or legally signed to Brian Ebstein. The Beatles had no legal contract with each other. Therefore, he was kicked out of the group. Pete went on to say that his mother called George Martin herself to find out what was going on. George told her he never suggested The Beatles remove him from the band as they were very popular as they were and he didn't want to ruin what they had only that he would use a session drummer in the studio. George went on to say that, that is what he and The Beatles agreed on.

Thanks for your comments, but in UK law, they ate incorrect on two counts. Firstly, for the Beatles management contract with Brian, as Brian didn't sign it, he could not enforce the contract on the Beatles. However, as it was signed in good faith by the Beatles, they could enforce the contract on Brian. Therefore, Brian was still obligated to find work for Pete. It also means that as Brian did not employ Pete, he couldn't fire him. I have this from Brian's lawyer. There is another important consideration, and that is that the Beatles themselves were in a legal partnership under English Law with each other. I have also interviewed that lawyer. Under English Law, no partner can be fired or dismissed by his fellow partners. The partnership should be dissolved to affect this change. They didn't do that, and so tricked Pete to think he was being fired. George Martin was surprised when they arrived at EMI STUDIOS with Ringo and not Pete, as he didn't see a reason to get rid of Pete, just replace him on their first record with a session drummer, which was common practice. Ringo was subsequently replaced by Andy White. Hope that clarifies it for you - the Law content can be confusing to get your head around. Thankfully I studied contract law and was able to verify the facts with lawyers too. David

All this Ringo was the man they wanted at all costs. *1)* Martin on the first session at EMI on 6 June 1962 says he prefers a sessions drummer rather than Pete Best. *2)* Martin did not bring in a sessions drummer for the second session at EMI to replace Pete Best, so he was obviously not fully decided still having faith in Best. This Ringo fellow turned up. Martin was not impressed so ordered a sessions drummer, with the blessings of Paul, for the third session at EMI. *3)* They had from 18 July 1962 when a _firm_ recording contract arrived, or even before, to contact their so-called ideal drummer, Ringo. The first contact with Ringo was after two drummers had rejected the job, contacting him on 11 August *three and half weeks* after receiving the contract. *4)* Even after offering Ringo the job on a fixed wage and _probationary,_ they offered the job to Johnny Hutch who rejected it.
@BrightmoonLiverpool5 күн бұрын
exactly right. Martin expected to see Pete Best on 4th September 1962. Ringo did nothing to change Martin's mind and so Andy White was brought in to replace Ringo on 11th September.

@@BrightmoonLiverpool David I like your theory that the Fab 3 sacked Pete because they wanted to split most of the proceeds three ways, not four. Greed. Retaining Pete would mean splitting four ways as he was an equal partner. Ringo was on a fixed £25 per week for nearly a year, nothing else, while the other three were on a basic of £50 and a share of huge profits, raking it in. They regarded Ringo as a necessary hired hand out in the halls, as initially they viewed that a real professional metronome dedicated studio drummer would be hired for the essential records, as was the case with Andy White being called in for the first three songs. Andy White says the version of Please Please Me single that was released was him playing not Ringo, as the distinctive Ludwig sound and his personal technique was obvious. Andy White commented on the bad cymbal Ringo used, which is easily heard on the recordings. Ringo could not afford a new set of drums on £25 a week, when the band had had a two chart singles, with one being No.1 and a hit No. 1 LP. Only after around a year when he was made equal earning far more could he afford the Ludwig set he admired that Andy White used. Ringo was not even equal, as he got less than the others on concert hall fees.

the reason he thought it was an old song is because he recognized it from the source. I think that some songwriters hear songs from "the ethers" that are already written. some songwriters have been able to bang out a number one hit in ten minutes. why? because it was already written. These types of songs are accessible by all of us but we don't know how. Think of the other song Paul wrote "Honey Pie". Isn't it as familiar AF? yet it didn't exist before Paul grabbed it.
@BrightmoonLiverpool7 күн бұрын
What Billy was hearing was a style, as opposed to a specific song. Paul had written "When I'm 64" when he was quite young, thinking of his dad, so wrote it in that old style. Billy just assumed it was an old song.

They are very well known people and have been interviewed countless times. I have personally known them for over 20 years too. The other on the far left is Chas Newby, who played bass with The Beatles at the end of 1960. I have also known him for 15 years, though he sadly died last year. One thing I see: Macca looks uneasy. And while he is explaining to JC what happened in 1969, his eyes constantly move to the left. Many criminology research projects show that when somebody is using their memory, that person's eyes dart towards the right. And when someone is fabricating something to appear that they are using their memory a person's eyes dart towards the left. With that being said, watch the video again and watch how Macca's eyes move.

No normie. Ringo is NOT "Billy Shears". It all comes down to the song "I'm the greatest". In the song Ringo sings: "Now I'm 32 and all i want to do is bogaloo." That is connected with the song "Back off boogaloo". Ringo would not attack himself in a song. Ringo is telling "Billy Shears" (William) to back off. And the Frankensteins monster in that video represents the dead man who is made of body parts. Like William who represents the "living corpse" in his role as "Paul McCartney".

Fascinating. There was a Paul interview in the 1980's where he recalled seeing the movie 'The Girl Can't Help It' in 1956 (before meeting John). That movie starred Jayne Mansfield and feature performances by Gene Vincent (Be Bop a Lula) and Eddie Cochran (Twenty Flight Rock) among others. Paul said this was a turning point for him (not sure why exactly) in deciding to pursue musical career/stardom. And, of course, Paul noted that Twenty Flight Rock Was "the song that got him into The Beatles" (that's how Paul said it in the 1980s). I commend you to watch that movie and think about the influence it had on a very young Paul.
