Awesome content, thanks for all of your detail. I have a 2005 R52. The sunroof portion works. The latch on the left is broken, I can unlatch it with a screwdriver just like in your video. In the right side I can’t pry it down. If I put anymore pressure on it I will break something. Any thoughts? Is it possible to share a video of it with you ?

i have a r52 2005 mini convertible, my sunroof slides back fine, but only one of the latches unlatches, the other one opens only half. Any idea how to fix that?

A great set of vids, however, may I put a question to the expert(s) please? My daughter's Mini One's ('52 plate) convertible sunroof has a broken plastic bracket within the retraction mechanism which won't allow the sunroof to be pushed back. I need to push the roof back to slacken the cloth so I can un-tab it and remove the main broad plate at the top front to get at the screws holding it onto the retraction mechanism so I can take the whole damned machanism apart to repair!! Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Hi, I got issue while I'm closing the roof it seems is closed but there is very minor gap from the right hand side only the other side it looks closed properly But the right hand side not closed till the end like the other side not visible that much just making water leak while it's raining over night to the foot well Any advice please? thanks

Lol the cable is missing! That’s why you have to get in there and fix the cable! This video is exactly what I need because if you have a broken cable and the top wont go down and you also have a busted rear window regulator- you have to put the top down manually to get to the regulator and you may as well fix both at once! My friend owns a BMW shop and will help me but even he says the job will take the two of us and 5-6 hours…thank you for your video. Appreciate people who try to save us all some money!

Have a question. I cannot remove the front bracket on either side because the mechanism on the track is locked at full forward and the screws are covered. Cannot seem to unlock to move back and out of the way. Any hints I’m not sure yet but I think the latch on both sides may have broken as the part that is attached to the cable flaps around on both sides

Worked as instructed however the hood had been badly removed previously and the tabs at the front had 7 broken or missing. My cable was too badly chewed to be reused however did have another "spares" car with a broken hood and was able to salvage enough parts to make it work. Be careful when you reinstall the motor, i broke the plastic casing but used a salvaged motor so everything works as it should. Thanks for the video it helped me immensely.

I sold my mini a few days ago, and the day it sold the sunroof failed to up on the right when the guy got home. Worked fine earlier that day. I am not an unethical guy, so I offered to refund him 5250.00 today and try and repair it myself. He said he would be interested in it still after the repair. I am hoping you can guide me as the tools I need to accomplish this 4 part video series. I have a housemate who can assist.

Thank you for your videos on repairing the mini cooper convertible top. I learned a lot. I have 2 questions. How did you remove the cover on the cross bar. I tried and it wouldn't budge. Is it just have retainer clips or screws. 2nd question is my slide on the left side doesn't move back far enough to release the claw or slide to the hall sensor. Thanks for any help you can give me.
