Radiator blew and belt broke while I waa going down the road got it towed to house changed them out and got a leak now from same dang place as on here 🤣🤣 crap happens.

Best video ever, I also have a 97 Silverado 5.7 I have replaced the fuel pump twice, this last time I got an idea, instead of using my floor jack and block like you have there I thought about another method, cranking straps, I went around the tank with two cranking straps and fastened them above, anyway these straps give you total control of the raising and lowering ...I won't do it any other way, easy to pull your metal straps out and putting it at the perfect height to refasten your connects, I did it alone with no complications... Like you, I hope this helps the next guy...

What it means if it burps a lot?
@KNKRNR10 күн бұрын
Its going burp a lot to if you don't bleed the rear pipe as shown. Also trapped air in the heater core will send trapped air out once either thermostats open. It took us a couple of days to fully burp this system in the video. This was one of the toughest engines I have bleed in 25 years of automotive work. /K&K

I was just wondering what implications or problems could arise in the event that the balance shaft is off synchronization with the camshaft 🤔. After replacing the timing chain on a gm 3800 series 3 and timing chain cover, my son told me that he was playing with those two small gears, and he doesn't remember if he put them back as it was 😡😡😡 The camshaft is synchronized with the crankshaft, but he isn't sure about the balance shaft 😂😂😂
@KNKRNR12 күн бұрын
If you ever owned a 3.8L from the 80's before Series 1 3800 it will feel like a true oddfire V6 noticeable shake at idle. There are dots on the balance shaft to time it before you line up the cam /crank gears. If he put it back together and its smooth at idle I would just leave it. Just know for the future never play with the balance shaft unless you know where the dot was before removal. Its tempting to play with. lol :) /K&K

Not sure if GM was using them at this time. GM will cut the fuel system off if you hit the speed limiter, which might explain why the ignition didn't cut out once access to a raw fuel source was there. /K&K

Hi, new great videos I have been cross referencing because I have a Oldsmobile eighty eight V6 3800 series ll Vin K 3.8 l 1996 Royal Sedan and I started last year changing gaskets and parts and still finding leaks. Finally had to change the head gaskets, water pump, timing chain & tensioner, manifold gasket and exhaust gaskets and plenum. Did oil and antifreeze flush torqued. Now I found a transmission extension gasket leak that is probably causing and contributing to the blown head gaskets I replaced. I wanted to know if you have any videos on replacing the transmission extension gasket and transmission valve cover gasket how to at home. Removing the knockle just to get started to replace the valve body cover removal and replace on both including transmission extension gasket.

i see a little oil on spark plugs.. can the spark plugs seal be change ? or they you have to change the whole valve cover
@KNKRNR19 күн бұрын
Most Imports use seals inside the valve cover to seal the spark plug holes from oil. Yes the valve cover has to be removed. /K&K

I usually put my oil channel locks to the filter only to give a half turn TOPS MORE after hand tightening it. Thank God my oil leak occurred, it appears very shortly before I did my NEXT change. I know it had to be a VERY short time before because the TEMP GUAGE never went up and the OIL LIGHT never came on. It looked as if it eminated from the filter. I DIDN'T 'WRENCH' this filter fown like a madman. Are you telling me these FRAMS housings apparently are so friggin' cheaply made???
@KNKRNR21 күн бұрын
I have not seen a problem like this with Fram filters till now. I have used them for 20 years with no issue. Hopefully this was an installer error but after market parts have become cheaply made today. /K&K

Fun facts I learned for my 2012 5.7L Hemi Durango 2012 here. The rubber ring around the thermostat is the gasket for the thermostat housing. Don't try adding a gasket. Thus, housing bolts are tightened only to 9 ft. lbs. so you don't crush the rubber gasket. Factory temp for my Hemi 5.7L is 203° - not 180°. My aftermarket thermostat leaked onto my serpentine belt causing my alternator to slip occasionally. Non-Mopar thermostats have cheap gaskets that don't last. Bleed valve on the thermostat must be installed at the top (12:00 position). Thank you!

Great video, thanks. Is it necessary to remove the distributor cap to mark the inside? Why not removing the entire distributor as one unit and only mark the outside? And no need for TDC before removing the distributor?
@KNKRNRАй бұрын
If that rotors moves while its on a bench you will have no way of knowing where the rotor was positioned prior to removal. Marking position(s) as shown insures correct timing / rotor position during installation. Its better to safe and take the steps shown in the video before removal then try a short cut and end up 180 degrees out. /K&K

@@KNKRNR Just did the job today. I don't really hear or feel any RPM/noise difference compared to before, so I guess timing is good. Is there a specific way to check? Or by sound is enough?
@KNKRNR26 күн бұрын
The three things I check is the upper end horsepower there, is the bottom end torque feel right at takeoff, and no pinging under load. Pinging would mean over advanced timing, no power means under advanced timing. On these engines I check them by driving them, biggest thing is no pinging. Pinging can destroy an engine. /K&K

Fun watching a "professional" put 8 quarts of oil into an engine that only calls for 6. . . They made it easy for you to remember: 6 cylinder holds 6qt (with filter), and the 8 cylinder holds 8qt (w/filter) That's what you get for a roadside repair I guess.
@KNKRNRАй бұрын
I put 6 qt in and it didn't show on the dipstick. After some research some said 7 qt some said 8qt. In these cases when I don't know I will carefully add oil and wait till oil starts to show up on the dipstick. It wasn't till I got to 7qt it was at the add 1 qt line 8qt used to fill as shown. Maybe the wrong dipstick was installed at some point, not sure but I did oil changes on this truck for some time it was always the same story. Don't assume a "road side repair" was the problem till you fully understand the story and the thought process we go through on these new vehicles. There was no way I was sending a $50k truck down the road with no oil showing up the dipstick. /K&K

why can't you use the OEM wiring?
@KNKRNR2 ай бұрын
You can, but we found its better to use everything in the Import Direct kit for reliability. The last thing you want is to have a wiring issues after installing a new pump or have the fuel gauge not work. Two things that can cause a new pump to fail (1. weak current, 2. running low on fuel and the pump overheats.) /K&K
