I have the same trans, I’d like to put in my 05 Silverado. It’ll bolt right up to the factory v6, I’d just be trading a 4sp overdrive auto for a 4sp overdrive stick. Plus it would be a cool combo nobody’s done in a newer truck like that.

Ugh.. mark that was amazing!! I just had to take my 935 to jd to have the pto clamp repaired.. I took them the deck to check any damage that might have happened when it broke. I got a call as they were buttoning it back up; that I had a lot of vibration in my driveshaft, and for 1300 plus labor at $135 hour they'd put it on straight for me.. I laughed and told them that was crazy, and id look for a used one. Took it to a guy down the street, and he backed the pin out, and put it back in tight. Works perfectly fine!! No more vibration. Got the machine home, started mowing, and the belt jumped off the deck.. two bolts loose, one on the guide pulley as you had; and one on the tensioner bar.. both loose. Tightened back down all good. Couple more minutes into the mow, the weight bar on the back of the machine fell off.. they had forgotten to put the spacers and nuts back on.. Now.. for $135 an hour, I'd rather have paid you!!

A little known fact is mopar truck and van applications had coarse internal gears and a .71 fourth gear.. Because they didn't have awesome 426 torque in the late 70s, it used a wimpy input shift with 23 teeth and modest diameter. Aluminum casing made them even more prone to fail. Classic example of shortcuts that allowed obscene executive pay and made US carmakers fall behind japan.

I mean this with the most respect.... You remind me of the old days I used to work in the shop with my grandpa! I love it. He has since passed and I am working on his old f935 and noticed he replaced the sight tube with a copper fitting (it looks like). It's pretty grimy under there but figure I will need a sight tube. Any idea the actual dimensions of that thing, so I can purchase outside of the dealership? Lastly, I would think the whining would be indicative of low fluid. May have to top her off.
