I didn’t put all of the conversation on the video but he just kept saying it! The rifle is absolutely amazing and I’m healing up from basically, shoulder reconstruction from that fall, the wrist is as good as it’s going to get at this point, Kinda goofy accident but so ready to get back out there and split some playing cards!! I cannot say enough about the WOOX, the best that I’ve ever been behind as far as comfort, fit and function. Funny thing is, my favorite thing about it is the walnut cheek riser! So smooth and just feels perfect! It’s the little details.. 😊

Beautiful. Congrats. What is the brake or tuner you have on it?
@fairviewprecision
@fairviewprecision 5 ай бұрын
Thank you and welcome to the channel! It is the Eric Cortina EC2 tuner. It is pricey but I have had great results with it. The machining is top notch. If you’re shooting .22, I would highly recommend lot testing different brands of ammunition to see if you actually need a tuner. From my experience with owning 23 different .22 rifle, pistols and revolvers, they tend to shoot certain ammunition better than the others. This rifle loves RWS rifle and special match. Feel free to ask me any questions anytime!! Cheers!
@cacinaz8802
@cacinaz8802 5 ай бұрын
@@fairviewprecision Thank you. Thought it might be the EC tuner but PMA also makes one that looks similar. My CZ 457 Varmint shoots accurately with Federal Range Pack ammo. I had the plastic pillars replaced with aluminum and bedded, and I put in some bolt shims to correct the headspace. I get slightly better than MOA at 50 yards but it is not the rifle's fault. The Federal seems to shoot best out of this rifle compared to several mid-priced brands. Have never tried the expensive stuff but may do so.
@fairviewprecision
@fairviewprecision 5 ай бұрын
@cacinaz8802 That’s awesome! I asked CZ many questions and they answered all except what ammunition they headspace for. I think it’s RWS only because that’s what the shot card that came with my rifle came with. I’ve lot tested Eley, Lapua, lapua SK, Norma (although RWS makes normal) and everything else. The thing about “match” ammo is that you pay for consistently. But I test with a chronograph and even the expensive stuff has inconsistency in velocity, although less than bulk. I even weigh and sort!! .22 is definitely a rabbit hole! lol! What the tuner did, for me, is if I shot a different lot because with the inability to consistently find the same machine made lot, I can tune the barrel harmonics or “whip” to the load characteristics of the different lot or brand. I also buy multiple bricks of the same lot so that I’m not constantly tuning. I gotta say, if federal shoots the best for you, stick with it. Confidence and consistency is what matters most to me with ammo.
@cacinaz8802
@cacinaz8802 5 ай бұрын
@@fairviewprecision Agreed. I also have asked CZ several questions with no response regarding chamber dimensions, head space. It is likely considered proprietary to them. I know they spec their chambers to CIP and not SAAMI, so my guess is the varmint chamber (not MTR) is close to Bentz. I used 0.035 shims so my chamber was likely 0.06-7 "ish" to start. Pretty sure I am around 0.03 headspace now but I have not taken the barrel off to measure. As you can see from my avatar, I get bughole groups at 25 yards consistently and at 50 yards not much more spread. I don't compete so I'm happy although I have thought about added a Lilja barrel. What else do we have to spend what little money we have left on?
@fairviewprecision
@fairviewprecision 5 ай бұрын
Well my friend, I can see that you definitely also are deep into the rimfire rabbit hole!! Ain’t it great! lol!! Have you run anything other than federal with your current headspace? I’m curious to know if the bolt will close at that spacing with different thicknesses. Since you have already bedded the stock have you put any thought into the trigger? The Timney trigger is a wonderful upgrade!! I honestly can say that it is a game changer.

Thanks again Derek. I agree with ammo being inconsistent. I’ve spend hundreds if not thousands on all the match ammo brands over the years, weighing, sorting, chronographing and I have found that CZ’s like RWS. RWS is not easy to find consistent lots of, but this build seems to like any lot of RWS special match that I feed it.

Nice rifle, I built my son a 457 MTR for his 6’th grade graduation. Not quite as ballar as this but same 419 rail, same 419 bolt handle, same ARC rings, threw some budget friendly ($400) Vortex thing on it tho I have one of those Gen II Burris Match Pro’s sitting in a box waiting for a purpose. I’d like to build one but I’m left handed. I already suffer enuf right handed rifles as it is. Going all in on something custom to have it wrong handed seems a waste. I do have a very nice Defiance Deviant LH in an LH MPA chassis in 6.5…

Great research on a beautiful looking gun. I'm sure it looks even better in person than on video. Is that a CZ barrel or a special match barrel from another company? Are you happy with the scope? I have been thinking about an Arkin EPL4. Thanks hope the wrist is on the mend.

Hey Jeff! Welcome! Yes it is the factory barrel. It is so true that I would not even think about rebarreling this gun. I absolutely love the scope. I did a lot of trying out with scopes, Zeiss, Tract, Night Force, etc and all of them were amazing. The glass business has really got better in the past few years. It came down to a matter of preference. The Match Pro has lower profile turrets like the Night Force, which I like and, to me, a reticle that is faster to read than the Zeiss or the Arken, and glass that is fine for a .22 and beyond. Perfect for me. It is my preference, all of those scopes are AWESOME!! I would suggest doing what I did and shop them. They all have their own pros and cons. Just find what fits you and what you want to do with it.

I am on the fence between the Varmint precision trainer MTR 02355 ($1600ish) or getting the Pro varmint threaded ($700ish) and adding the Woox. I am also a wood guy at heart. He was on a closed set filming a video and was not expecting a "walk-on extra" of any kind. You Sir are a Douche. The Amazon Driver's only License to the Property is from his/her/theirs front seat to the front door of the address in question. The drivers decision to wavor from Amazons' SOP has cost "Fairview" Grevious Bodily injury and Loss of Income form his TWO jobs. I am the one who instagated the talk of a lawsuit. Amazon comes to my neighborhood daily and here is the SOP routine 99% of the time. They stop the truck. They get the package off the shelf. Take the package to the front door and photograph it. They the return to the truck and drive away to their next stop. I find it more than unusual for a delivery driver to walk over 50 yards behind the residense to tell the owner that he has a nice place. I still think he bring this to an attorney. As for the Amazon driver he to may have two jobs. One being an Amazon delivery driver and a second job of Casing nice places.

Helo sir! Thank you for the praise! That was really fun and I’m very happy you liked it! I have medium height scope rings on this rifle. It all depends on the comb height and your cheek weld. Try a few out. We are all built differently so the best thing to do is try different settings until you are comfortable. Man I hope the rain holds off so you can shoot that awesome build!!! Please let me know how you do!
