As a native Ukrainian speaker myself, while Karolina's pronunciation is perfect, I'm not sure if it's the result of being fluent in Ukrainian or simply learning the pronunciation through common Ukrainian words that her family may have used at home.

Her scam was revealed when one of her manual/book buyers was too lazy, and skipped the last part. The aftercare, or the part where the man was heavily praised for helping out with the donation. A couple of guys caught on that they were scammed. This caused an investigation that led back to the bigger scammer.

I mean, I get liking trains, but this looks more like obsession. I hear that this is apparently normal in Japan, but it's just suspicious behaviour in a country that's both a dictatorship and involved in a war.

The guy who did this with American fast food ended up dying of cancer not too long ago. He ate nothing but McDonald's for a long period of time. I forget how long. They made a documentary about it as it happened. It's called SUPER SIZE ME.

I agreed with you guys on most of these! We ate at a Denny's and thought it was awful. Hated Mosburger. Did not care for any Japanese McDonald's. LOVED both kaizensushi places; loved CoCo Curry. Loved, loved, loved 7Eleven and Family Mart, and Lawson was good, too. Mr. Donut always looked good but I never tried. The others I didn't try. It's funny; Shakey's in the US used to be pretty good (kind of like Pizza Hut), but then they didn't last in the US. I never did try Japanese KFC. I think I figured that if I was going to go all the way to Japan, I sure as hell wasn't going to eat at a KFC (although I love US KFC).

It is not the original KGB, it was dissolved in 1991. It's the belarusian successor which would be KGB RB.

I don't think the ending is a twist. The ending is what is currently happening to thousands of Japanese girls. They fall in love for one of these fake host guys, and they end up owning them a lot of money. The vast majority of these girls (some of whom are underage) resort to prostitution. This one resorted to getting money from people. But I don't think the ending is a win for anyone.

Ethics aside; I'm surprised they got convicted for fraud... the way it's described it seems like she heavily alluded to financial troubles in the hopes that they gave money. If people were stupid enough to fall for it; and give money to a stranger they don't truly know whether out of kindness or foolishness... I don't see how she'd be liable unless there was an agreement made. Of course that's just my understanding from most European and American laws; not informed enough on Japan's laws but if they actually do hold her liable then that's great... wouldn't be hard to prove intent considering she literally wrote a guide.

Of all the things the anonymous has done that were listed, the renaming of Charlie Hebdo feels especially heinous to me, as a lot of their staff was shоt at around that time, by a bunch of fanatics upset that the magazine had published a few cartoons mocking religion. ... Somehow I feel some of Charlie's own staff would've LOLed at the renaming though? Not sure.
