My L G machine is blinking dl and won't turn on. I used to be able to tilt to start. Any ideas?
@BruceAlanR
@BruceAlanR 3 күн бұрын
Hmmm… I believe DL is an issue with the door locking mechanism. The door switch may be finicky (may not be perfectly lined up or something’s loose) or it may need to be replaced. It’s not difficult to replace it, but you’ll need to get “under the hood,” which I demonstrate in the tub removal video.

My first experience with the LG was very frustrating. I loaded what was a normal level wash for my old machine, set it on Heavy Duty did not use Turbo Wash or Normal Level. It took 2 hours. Conked out with an unbalanced load error. I had to remove almost all of the wet clothes into two bucckets and with the greatest of care loading the remaining items to get the best balance...then I had to babysit the damn washer as it reved up it's spin cycle. I am not sure whether it has a very finicky balance device but thing with slowly cycle up, stop and then begin a reverse cycle. It often took several tries to get the damn thing to balance but then I had to sit and watch the tub spool up to spped and sometimes it would only get up to half the top speed and shut down, Repeat the balancing exercise. Monitor the tub coming up to cycle and hope it wiould go to full speed. When it did, the spin at high speed would last forever. The only I liked about the high-speed spin cycle was the clothes were much dryer than my old machine. The instructions in this video was very helpful. I think I will get better performance out of my new machine but I would give anything to have my old Maytag washer back that lasted 21 years and was always reliable until the balance in the spin cycle finally had enough. The other thing I liked about my old machine was a good rinse cycle which came on after the first spin cycle and once the clothes had been rinsed the final spin cycle came on. If I had to rebalance a load it took about five minutes to get the load right. These cheap corporate bastards are just out to make lousy products that wear out in four to five years and have to be replaced.
@BruceAlanR
@BruceAlanR 3 күн бұрын
I hear you. If you’re frequently getting unbalanced loads, check that the machine is properly leveled front to back and side to side, but not on the lid. Then run the Test Cycle and take notice of whether or not the tub is spinning off center during the rinse test. If it is not, the machine isn’t properly leveled and the leveling legs should be adjusted so the machine cannot rock in any direction. My other recommendation is to wash large or bulky items (ie, towels, small blankets) separately (you can wash a few of them together, but not with a lot of smaller random items) and use a low or medium spin speed. My machine rarely gets unbalanced using low or medium spin speed. Hope that helps! … and there are days I miss my old Maytag Commercial too!

i have 2 question , when you want to refill what u have to do ? does you have to wait 20 minute before opening the cap and after another 8 minutes to wait for the water boil ? and me second is if you do task and there"s are water remain in the tank after you finish how you flush it or you just stay it inside ? Thank you !!
@BruceAlanR
@BruceAlanR 3 күн бұрын
You have to wait roughly 20 minutes for the machine to cool down before opening the cap, refill, and then wait 8 minutes for the steam to be produced. I find that frustrating! To remove excess water, I just run the steamer until it’s completely empty because there is no way to get all the water out. The way the tank is designed makes it nearly impossible to dump any remaining water out. It’s rather frustrating!

excellent. i have the printed instructions but could never get it right. this has really helped. I will keep this video. I wonder, does this timer hold its programming in the event of a power outage?
@BruceAlanR
@BruceAlanR 3 күн бұрын
The timer has an internal battery that will maintain the programs during a power outage. Having said that, some folks have commented that the internal battery can fail after a number of years as a result of long, frequent outages. I’ve had two of these timers installed for about 10 years with only a few short power outages during that time. I have yet to lose any programs. I’m not sure what type of battery is inside (ie, rechargeable, lithium ion or nicad) or whether it’s replaceable (may be soldered in place), but my guess is I’ll eventually find out and then post a repair video on it. 😃

Do you think this would be able to break down small plastics?
@BruceAlanR
@BruceAlanR 4 күн бұрын
I’ve only tried organic materials. Not sure it would be ideal for plastics. There would be a lot of static electricity created (similar to cutting PVC boards with a circular saw) and the plastic dust would stick to everything.

@ thank you for replying! I’m trying to attempt recycling some plastic, but don’t want to pay for a really expensive shredding machine initially or cut up the plastic with scissors because it takes too long for how much I’m doing. I thought an electric wood chipper would be a decent alternative to attempt, at least for pricing wise and speed. However, I did have similar concerns. Maybe I’ll test it out for ya to find out for sure or I’ll just keep saving my money for an actual shredder. Anyways, thanks!!

My parent have a LG Wash machine i have a question how to adjucter the speed on the machine.
@BruceAlanR
@BruceAlanR 10 күн бұрын
The only “speed” you can adjust is the spin speed. Spin speed is the speed at which the tub rotates to remove water from the clothes once they are rinsed. You select the spin speed using the SPIN button and make the selection after you’ve selected a wash cycle and before pressing ⏯ to start the wash.

Just a few things I noticed that were different than what they recommend: First with the little brush where you are trying to remove stains from the oven, etc, that is a contact brush, and it is required to be touching the item it cleans, not holding back as in this video. Not sure if it will make a difference, but something they say needs to be done. Secondly, on their training video it has a warning to never use vinegar or any chemicals as it can cause harm to the machine. I have to read the directions as I'm just going off their training video to see if it says something different. And lastly, they say it can be filled up to 54 ounces,I beleive, not 40, which may be part of the reason you were not getting the full 50 minutes of cleaning time. Appreciate the video, but just thought I would mention it for others to see.

Thanks for sharing that info. Very helpful. DuPray has changed their position on using vinegar to descale their units, and that is likely due to premature tank failure. I contacted their help line a few years ago when someone pointed that they no longer recommend using the vinegar and water solution and the rep said to simply follow the information in the manual; however, I have noticed that using the vinegar and water solution as noted in the manual I received is slowly eating way at the interior. I rinse the unit out with clean water before each use and despite completely emptying it by running it dry, the first few rinses before the next use come out black. To me it looks like the tank is tarnishing due to previous descaling. I stuck an endoscope/camera inside and there appears to be a reasonable amount of buildup and discoloration inside the boiler. It’s occurred to me that I could be breathing that stuff in with the steam, which is concerning. As far as temperature and proximity to the surface being cleaned, I recently got a thermal camera and will be analyzing the temperature of the steam exiting the attachments to refine my technique. Thanks again!

Which has better suction? One of the handheld Dysons, or 0882? I think the Dyson batteries can be swapped/upgraded. So I guess the other concern would be things like weight/size/accessories/noise/cost
@BruceAlanR
@BruceAlanR 11 күн бұрын
The Dyson handheld vacs have better suction when put on max suction; however, they only run at max suction for 5 minutes or less on a full battery. After that they either overheat or the battery dies. I got an M18 adapter for the Dyson V6 handheld, which allows me to run the vacuum on max suction for longer using an XC5.0 battery, but the vac motor gets pretty hot. My favorite vac for cleaning the house, which I’ve had for a year now is the Dyson V12 detect slim. It’s both a handheld and stick vac. It’s lightweight, has a swappable battery, lots of attachments, a laser light to see dust (only on the roller brush), and is easy to maneuver. The trade off to its weight and size is that it needs to be emptied more often than the larger Dysons (V15 detect or outsize models). I predominantly use the Milwaukee 0882 in the workshop and basement, for small sanding jobs, and to vacuum our vehicles. The Dysons are definitely better overall for cleaning your living space, but they’re not intended to be used as a shop vac.

That was not the original fuse for that microwave. In the Dictionary under annoying it says see him. Microwaves use slow-blow ceramic fuse. That's why your fuse keeps on blowing. A fuse shouldn't shatter like that.
@BruceAlanR
@BruceAlanR 12 күн бұрын
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I’m sorry you didn’t like the video or find the information helpful. The broken fuse you saw in the video was an OEM replacement purchased directly from Frigidaire. This model microwave does not use a ceramic fuse; however, it is likely a slow blow. It is crucial that the specs are correct in any fuse you replace for obvious reasons. Many big box stores only sell ceramic fuses and they are not the correct fuse for this model. That is why I went directly to Frigidaire for the part the first time. Since we’ve owned this microwave, we have only blown 3 fuses during the course of 7 years and it has always occurred when someone opens the door while the microwave is running without pressing stop first.

Damn, I just watched this whole video to see how you remove the water from the unit once you’re done with it. Guess not.
@BruceAlanR
@BruceAlanR 14 күн бұрын
You are right, I don’t show how to empty the tank in the video. Wait for the tank to cool at least 20 minutes, remove the cap, and tilt the unit less than 180 degrees. If you press the trigger lock-on button it helps. Just keep in mind that if the wand is lower than the unit some water could come out of it and onto the floor. I’ve found the best thing to do is use up all the water... So run the tank dry. I press the trigger lock-on and stick the wand out the window until it stops hissing.
@tracibuckley9314

Sir, I read that if you continue to hold the trigger while pouring the distilled or demineralized water in the unit, filling will go much quicker and smoother.

That is correct. You can also press in the trigger and engage the trigger lock-on button so you don’t have to hold it. That’s what I do. Just be sure to unlock the trigger before turning on the unit.

I have this steamer and it’s a great product. The only drawback is that it stops working after a while (not steaming) due to maybe it being clogged. I’ve tried all suggestions found online but still doesn’t steam. On the hunt for a different steamer.
@BruceAlanR
@BruceAlanR 12 күн бұрын
Thanks for sharing your story. When you say “it doesn’t steam,” do you mean the boiler doesn’t heat up or just that no steam comes out of the wand? If it’s the latter issue, it’s just clogged. It’s not uncommon for a small hard water deposit to block the hose opening. The boiler has a chamber at the top which feeds the steam to the hose. With the machine unplugged and completely cooled, remove the boiler cap, press the button on the wand, and blow into it. If you can’t blow through the wand at all, it’s a clog (usually up near the boiler and not in the wand or hose). You can also put a little water (1/2 cup) into the tank before blowing and put your ear up to the opening of the unit. You should hear high pitched bubbles if there is no clog. To clear a clog, add 1/2 cup of water to the tank, put the cap on, spin the tank around a few times and shake the heck out of it. Then remove the cap, blow through the hose again with the button pressed on the wand. If the clog is cleared, empty the water and rinse. If it’s still clogged empty out the water, add fresh water and repeat. Every time you empty the tank you’ll likely see hard mineral deposits. I’ve had to do this procedure 3 or 4 times in a row before the clog gets cleared, but I’ve always cleared it. Good luck!

First of all, this was a very thorough review. A 3-month check-in would be nice this was a great first look. Thanks for all the data . I carry about four gen 1 boxes to most jobs. I only carry the 12-in boxes but they are durable. I find the interlocking mechanism slightly cumbersome but not too annoying. Ever since I've been using these boxes I rarely need a ladder It's my favorite thing about this box. As for drawers, I've paired my system with the Tanos tool boxes which has been working quite well. Great review, you earned a sub!
@BruceAlanR
@BruceAlanR 12 күн бұрын
Thanks for sharing your experience. I like the boxes as a ladder idea. A three month check in would be a good idea. I usually only do check-ins if I have an issue. The only issue I’ve had to date has been the clicking handle I showed in the video, which turns out to be a piece that broke off from the handle. It’s probably from overloading the boxes and dragging them up and down stairs. Luckily the wheels/cart is an inexpensive part to replace. It would be expensive to replace my dewalt box with wheels. The only other issue I have is that Ridgid still doesn’t sell the mounting brackets separately so I have to make them. Ugh! Thanks again!
