How To Change Blades on Sun Joe Chipper Shredder CJ602E and CJ601E

How To change or replace blades of Sun Joe Chipper and Shredder models CJ601E and CJ602E. It's quick and easy, but if the bolts haven't been removed for a while, the supplied hex key isn't going to get them out. I use a T40 bit in my impact driver, but it requires cleaning out the bolt heads so the bolts don't strip.
Replacement blades are part CJ601E-RBLD and available directly from Sun Joe or Home Depot; however, less expensive options may be available on Amazon.

Does your chipper cover hinge at the bottom or is the steel rod the only thing holding the cover on after you remove the red knob? Thanks.

There are what look like two plastic plugs along the chute (one on each side) that attach the body to the cover. The metal rod most likely prevents the cover from falling too far forward. If the rod wasn’t there the cover would likely snap off at the plastic pivot points eventually. The quality of the build isn’t great, but for the price this thing does what it needs to.
