that beetle with the different pan is PERFECT for a Restomod cal bug mod......One with a mismatched pan is great for Lowered Fuchs and all that.

You can't chop up early 50s ovals they are getting rare now. I'm in the UK and I'm repairing a 63 Beetle convertible it had 60 odd years of British salted roads so there was virtually nothing left but In the US I get the impression everything gets scrapped or left to rot after a few years.

I think I would want to take out those trashy side windows on it, use normal VW ones. I would restore it back to a basic camper, using the best salvageable parts that you have. These vehicles were very simple in their design, so reconstructing the chassis shouldn’t be too bad. The non-bent parts look solid enough. It will ride again ! - definitely worth saving.

The question I would be asking; is the frame bent? The center of axle to axle distance would be a quick indicator

yea Greg I would keep the roof on to straighten it. Push up in sections with a porta power or jack get the inner panels more straight before cutting off the roof. Once you get it back closer into shape it will be easier to get the new parts to line up.

A worthy project that I hope gets returned back to its original glory. I would normally say fix the roof and just get it driving. On this one I'd go Allin from rags to richest!
