Yellow Rose is a new 44 and she is awesome for us. We “downsized” from a 2018 HR 48, Inconceivable, and really like the 44. We have already been to Norway and back and she sails really well. Headed to the States in August.

Very Nice! Great balance between music and live sound..well done. -- QUESTION -- So how does it work within EU countries - did you have to put up a French courtesy flag even though you are also from an EU country yourself? Can't you just go to any EU country without immigration check-in?
@thearchibaldtuttle
@thearchibaldtuttle Жыл бұрын
Courtesy flag is still done within the EU countries. The hoisting of the guest country flag is intended to express that one submits to the laws of the country visited. As every EU country still has it's own law, the courtesy flag is hoisted. I'm not a professional sailor, so take my answer with a grain of salt 🙂 Within the EU (Schengen) an immigration isn't required BUT I would always check if there are specific regulations that you have to obey. Greece seems to be a bit difficult sometimes I have read. Croatia just recently became a member of the Schengen area and has dropped all immigation formalities since January 1, 2023.

@@thearchibaldtuttle ....I did not know that.. I remember backpacking through Europe and after landing in Germany I went from country to country without any immigrating at all - which was great, although I wanted passport stamps as souvenirs like in old movies. I just thought the same would apply when sailing - but fair enough.. I wonder how much of this checking in and out is simply about taking money from sailors. Seems like it is becoming a big tax grab from what I see on youtube.

Love the sailboat and video -- BUT -- Have you turned off the sounds and put music on? Why not let us listen to the proper natural sailing sounds? Most people don't like music videos especially since most people have different preferences in music and, if they wanted to listen to music they wouldn't do a search for Hallberg Rassy 48 mk2 sailboats. The perfect sailing video would be easy to make - simply post 1 hour of continuous sailing - no editing, no fake music or noises, no story telling required and no fast forwarding / time lapse required. I believe that people simply want to feel like they are part of the experience and can sit and watch a wonderful sailboat and cool couple, cutting through the water. Maybe put the camera on the aft end and just record it all.. Call it "virtual sailing with Windfinder". Perfect imo. If I can make a suggestion for your consideration - record everything whenever you sail and save those videos. They could be amazing and require little editing. Post them in 20 minute segments or 1 hour at a time. You decide. But don't overthink it and don't spend hours editing this or that and spend time agonizing over music etc. Sometimes the simple things work best. If you have several cameras, then place them in different places and splice them together.

Thank you for your reply. We just want to share what we are doing while sailing. The sound of the wind in the GoPro/ phone or other action cam is really annoying. But I will take it in to consideration not using music, for I love sharing these videos. While I want to spend a minimum of time in post-processing.

@thegpysi I think it isn’t sad. It is so easy to have an opinion about something someone makes. Just typing it in a comment. So, how would you do it? That would be helpful to know. I try my best and yes, music is the hardest part for there is a lot of music to choose from. The original sound of the video is full of wind noise. I try to compress it in post-processing but that did not work. I am all ears on learning to make better videos. Greetings 🙋🏽‍♀️.

Congratulations on a stylish and calming video. Great that you haven't fallen into the trap of many self-important amateur sailors on KZbin. Many of them believe their views about sailing, boats, and themselves are so important for the world to hear, that they spend an entire video talking over great pictures. Your video shows a quiet confidence that I and many other sailing followers on KZbin really enjoy. Keep up the good work and you now have a new subscriber, a life-time sailor who knows he doesn't have all the answers.
