The catch is that you're not really a franchisee (in practice), you're a glorified Above-Unit Manager (and ultimately an just an employee), but you had to pay to be one. In abstract, there's nothing wrong with it. It's all the illusions that come with the idea of being a franchisee, when in reality you're just another drone.
