This was super helpful. You saved the embroidery job my wife was working on. That small P shaped arm that’s connected to the sensor was stuck, and we freed it up and now it’s sewing beautifully again. Thank you so much.

Oh so glad I found you. The back lash spring just popped out of my 880 while I was cleaning it with the Bernina brush. I put it back in but after watching this video discovered I have it in wrong. Now I just have to figure out how to the get the spring out again to correct it. Many thanks 🥰

Hello @cloudhorse. The screen on the BERNINA 350 and the entire 3 series is an "ambient light" screen. The brighter the room the brighter the screen. With other words you can't sew in the dark with this machine. The screen won't display the numbers at all!!

Terrific explanation! The manufacturer videos and even the store videos where I purchased my Bernina assume one knows exactly how to use endcaps (it says- "use correct end cap) but with no explanation of what a correct endcap is. How is a new owner supposed to know what they don't know? Thank you for clarifying the process!

A mistake here: thread is not to be pulled from the side on cross-wound thread.
@lindastevens8392
@lindastevens8392 3 жыл бұрын
I wondered about that..... I use one of Superior Threads' thread holder for my cross-wound cones for that reason. Nevertheless, I never knew how to use the endcaps and the spongy thingy. I learned that flat wound spools are placed vertically on the machine and cross-wounds were placed horizontally. The reason you can use the thread holder with the cones is that the they are usually cross wound and a cross wound thread pulls off the cone just as if it were placed horizontally on the built-in machine spool spindle.
@karenscribner7031
@karenscribner7031 3 жыл бұрын
@@lindastevens8392 Actually horizontal and vertical should not be used. I have a thread holder which holds a stacked spool horizontally but it is pulled off straight to go through the thread guide. A vertical position cross-wound spool can be pulled up off the top if there is a thread guide above it. All of this matters because if your machine works great, thread never breaks and you sew and sew and sew, eventually the thread gets stressed because it is being twisted round and round.

Questions: 1) Can you adjust the width of satin stitch on an applique design with this software? 2) Can you merge two designs with this software? ie. open up two different designs and save them as a single file. 3) Is it possible to include an additional "stop" in a design file to include more thread color changes? 4) Is there a "sequence" edit feature in this software that would allow me to add or subtract something from a design file like the Hatch and Bernina 8 software ? (this is really necessary to truly be able to customize a design file). If customizer means just adding lettering and resizing a design, that really isn't worth $250 for me, I can do that already with the machine controls.

@@gregorsidler3962 Wow, why didn't someone mention that above or on the Bernina channel? Well, thanks for getting back to me. I'll stop considering this as my Plan B then. Bernina claims that after my machine gets a firmware upgrade that the Bernina 8 software should be able to produce a file that my machine can read. However they have given me no information on what those firmware upgrades entail that would seem to suggest that the firmware is the problem. For example, the last firmware upgrade was to install the Portugese language! I'm being forced to do this at the dealer I purchased the machine from that is 2 hours away from me so I have no way of knowing whether two 4 hour round trip car drives will solve my problem. I would think that Bernina would take the file I sent them, install it on a USB drive, put that into my model at their HQ, and look at the error message that it generates and have someone who has experience with software and firmware take a look at it to see what the problem is and then provide recommendations as to what should be done. I've asked, why do you think the firmware is the problem. Crickets.

So you are not talking to Bernina but rather to a store owner who does happen to be with Bernina for over 40 years. Anyway. @@gregorsidler3962 Thank you, and yes I know that you are not Bernina, but it would be nice of you and Bernina to document on your/their channel under the promo video for this software stating that this software is no longer available through Bernina, since you/they were/are in the know on this. Just out of curiousity, do you definitively know that the Deco WOULD NOT WORK with the Bernina 8 embroidery software? (They are claiming on their website that Bernina 8 was developed to work with ALL BERNINAS and I was given information in writing from Bernina HQ that Bernina 8 WILL work with the Deco 340). If your claim is true, why can't Bernina just come out and state that 8 won't work with the Deco but 7 will, if that is the case? Owners could purchase software based on advertising claims only to find out they paid for software that won't work with their machine and possibly go out and buy a new machine to work with their brand new very expensive unreturnable software that may have cost them as much as their machine! You need to be clear or they need to be clear about the facts.
@gregorsidler3962
@gregorsidler3962 4 жыл бұрын
@@covid-19inthistogether96 I never really sold the Deco 340 but I know that machine is reading EXP. and both software versions 7 and 8 will read and write EXP. Besides any Bernina embroidery machine, every made read EXP!!!!!!! The Bernina 200 reads two formats ART4 and EXP. In the earlier days, you had to hook up the machine directly to the computer and the native format of the software is/was always ART. So all the customers always thought that when they sent a design to the machine, the machine would read ART, what is and was completely wrong. As they pushed the button to send it the file it was transferred into EXP. In order for a software to read ART in the machine, the machine would have be Microsoft driven! And the Bernina 200/730 was the only one every made like that. So either software 7 or 8 will work with your machine!!

Thank you for taking the time to demo this software. I just did a trial of the Wilcom/Hatch and the Bernina 8 software and I can see from the interface on your screen that the Customizer software has the same interface so most likely created for them by Wilcom as well I suspect. I am going to assume, unless you mention otherwise, that this software is based off those software programs, with a specific set of functionality for the price point that you mention. It is extremely difficult to determine if the functionality from Customizer will meet my needs without the ability to do a 30 day free trial. From the bullet points that Bernina lists for the functionality features, it just doesn't really tell me exactly what this software can and cannot do. After purchasing the OESD software sold by Bernina and then dropped by Bernina, I feel a little burned quite honestly. Wouldn't it have been nice of Bernina gave OESD owners a copy of Customizer as a replacement to honor their purchase of the OESD software that they discontinued?!

I purchased new "Singer" needles (made in Brazil) needles for my Featherweight 221 and they have the "cut out" on the left side of the needle that supposedly is there to prevent skipped stitches, however, all I get are skipped stitches it literally will not sew with this needle. I put a round type needle in and it sews fine! Is this normal?
@gregorsidler3962
@gregorsidler3962 5 жыл бұрын
If you are threading the needle from right to the left, the cut out needs to be on the left! If that is correct on your machine and you have skipping stitches that would mean that either the needle height is off or the hook needle distance is too big. This would all make sense until you tell me that a round shank needle is working in that machine. With a round shank needle, the gap between the hook and the needle is getting even bigger!!! So there is something I can't see that would make it clear to me why you are having skipping sititches.

@@RenaissancePeopleNYC I'm repairing sewing machines for the past 35 years including the Featherweight. All of the needles today have a cut-out. 15x1is nothing else than another number for 130/705H. And that is the needle you should use for that machine. If you still find a 705B needle that would be the same needle without the cut-out. But I would not recommend it.
