1:12 teen week originally released with 8 songs, but jane later re-released the record to cut 4 of those songs, since she felt personal discomfort with some of its contents

I still dont get what it was about those songs specifically that made her uncomfortable, I thought all of her songs showed uncomfortable aspects

i feel like this discussion is fundamentally flawed cuz no one *likes* the word hyperpop. it was coined by a corporation and the word doesnt, like, cover half the actual sounds in the scene. its sooo annoying for people to act like """hyperpop""" was a fad, when the community is still fucking thriving. yeah the Media has moved on from the happy hardcore stuff but nothing has, like, changed. the ethos is the same, make the craziest thing, but people need to put labels on stuff thats intentionally impossible to label. i mean, i feel like the splice moment packs are a pretty good sample platter of artists still doing cool shit, and no 2 sample packs sound alike. the scene as a whole is just a bunch of people making all kinds of music who just know and fuck with eachother, and thats still what it is. its like when people try to label non binary ppl as fem/masc or afab/amab, when the whole idea is not having to tie yourself down to anything in particular
@nickly_d5 ай бұрын
i completely agree i think the actual term hyperpop died long before the many genres it spawned even existed. esp on soundcloud there is a thriving scene of musical/edm maximalism that is imo the natural progression of hyperpop; it just isnt as easily accessible both in terms of musicality and actually finding it

i feel like im appreciating hyperpop a lot more super late, and i feel very sad. its one of my favorite sounds and i feel gutted that what seemed like a genre primed for take off has been set aside in favor of safer sounds. on that note, do you have recommendations for albums from the 2019-2020 era and for artists currently that have that sound?

Jane Remover is the queen of music for me. She can make literally anything sound good. Jersey club, ADHD edm, breakcore, hyperpop, shoegaze, trap, anything

This makes a lot of sense. I'm currently listening to it backwards and your 100% right. Maybe it's by accident, or design. Either way, it's a great way to enjoy an already perfect album, and somehow even more relatable. <3

Sophie actually is one of the pioneers of bubblegum bass - if you listen to the Product compilation, that is peak bubblegum bass (msmsmsm & l.o.v.e. may be the only exceptions). Then also some tracks from Oil of Every Pearl’s Un-Insides are also bubblegum bass, like Immaterial

I think people make deals with music execs to become SUPERSTARS but they have to sacrifice "what's" closest to their hearts, and some people take the deal and they become superstars; but all along after, they carry the weight of having chosen vain fame and contracts over the closest to them and a normal life of freedom. What darkness to be trapped in, like the kids in Pinocchio who got caught on pleasure island and were irreversibly changed, becoming donkeys that can't speak and that they can throw around, lock up, and control. The execs LIE. sale. Now they own the "stars".
@lesliephung73172 жыл бұрын
I see the album as her spiritual journey. Speaking to her higher self and trying to find her way. The opener "the gate" serves as where her spiritual adventure begins. If you listen to the album as if she's speaking to inner self, it makes a lot of sense
@johndare62 жыл бұрын
also, she looks like Lara Croft on the the album cover. it may probably mean that there are easter eggs to be debunked and that is probably be a major one.

Motown is a genre and a label. The genre is named for the label, even though the label is based on Detriot's nickname as the motor city.
