Remember these beauty's to this day! Miss hearing them at Heathrow, ast BA 747 I ever seen was G-CIVN back in October 2019, the last 744 to be scrapped in the UK at Kemble last December..... Do you have any idea what's happening with G-CIVA, G-CIVS, G-CIVR, G-CIVT & G-CIVX Steve? They've been quoted as in 'long term storage' since April 3rd 2020 before the entire 747 fleet was retired. Recent images and videos show that they're in immaculate condition and very well looked after, maybe there are plans for these remaining 744's?🤔

@aviationcinematics2024 Hi Alan - yes I FR 24 screenshotted the 5 of them flying en route to Teruel Spain back in the covid lockdown in April 2020. About a year ago now there were several times when the transponder on CIVR “lit up” at Teruel - still showing that last flight number from LHR - but nothing since - but as you say, very strange that they continue to be maintained and stored in such good condition. Also It made no sense to store CIVA for example as it has clocked up 124,700 flying hours - about the highest of the whole 744 fleet - whereas some of the 744s that WERE scrapped had only 90,000 hours on them (eg G-BYGB). Very odd! 🤔 Would be great if they were to be brought out of storage by a cargo operator and put into use again - certainly wouldn’t be BA doing it as they’re not geared up for that fleet any more in terms of aircrew, maintenance equipment, simulators etc 🥹

These 747s should never have been withdrawn from service big mistake with passenger air travel now booming

@jonnyvloggeruk too right. It was a mad rush to sell assets in that first covid lockdown. BA even sold their art collection apparently! LH took a much more measured approach with their mothballing of the 747 fleet at the time ..
