Drop your back seat and open the midgate. That gives you access to the bed so you can access the screws.

I feel like it is, especially the 05-06 models. They got the big electrical update that happened for 03+ models, they don’t have AFM like the 2nd gens, and they have dual electric fans rather than a clutch fan.

A few recommendations here: Remove jewelry such as rings and watches for safety purposes, so they don’t catch. Wear mechanics gloves to protect your hands and long sleeves to protect your arms from sharp objects, heat from the vehicle and hot oil. Wear safety glasses. An extension for screwing off the drain plug is not needed. If fact, it made things worse, as per the video, with spilling of oil, including the potential of the drain plug landing in the bucket of hot oil. After loosening the drain plug, you can slowly unscrew the plug by hand, with gloves on, then quickly remove the plug away from the drain hole when it is free from the threads. Better drain basins are available and cheap. Some are equipped with a drain saddle for the dirty oil filter when it is removed from the vehicle. The drain plug doesn’t have to be reinstalled before draining the oil filter. In fact, you will get additional drainage of old oil from the drain plug hole when the old filter is removed. Start with clean surfaces and avoid cross-contamination. Engine bays should be cleaned before oil changes, reducing the likelihood of contaminants introduced into the engine while the dipstick and oil fill cap are removed. The dipstick should be removed and cleaned of old oil, before dipping it back into the engine freshly filled with new oil. As others have pointed out here, checking oil levels when the engine is running is a no-no. If you take roads less travelled, you’ll want to ensure that oil changes are done properly!

Was really waiting to hear how much oil was lost after this job. Didn't look like much, so I guess I'll just assume that I don't need to do this during an oil change, and just fix mine rn. Been holding off cause I thought the oil loss would be greater. Thx for video though. 👍

Is that clip holding the plunger rod to the pedal, on the passenger side or driver side of the pedal? BTW - a 6'3" 290# guy trying to get under there to remove the clip....whew, LOL!

My 2000 Hyun. Son. 2.5L tensioner has no 3/8 ratchet hole. You call it a socket hole it is a 3/8 "ratchet" hole. But mine has a square 17 mm raised nub. Use an end wrench to release tension.

Things like this really annoy me, like Chevy couldn't just spend and extra $10 per vehicle to make the part the right way from the beginning...?

Looks like you left the filler and vent tubes connected when dropping it. Thats good, the clamp on mine looks rusted. might change it after I drop the tank. I will be using a motorcycle lift, hope that works!

I've got both a Sierra and a Ford Ranger. The Ranger doesn't have a hook, just the cable, and there's never been an issue with it (I let down the tire and lubricate the cable and mechanism once a year). I was surprised when I found out about the hook on my GM, and of course, it's totally seized. Add unnecessary mechanical complexity to a dirt and corrosion-prone area and there's always gonna be trouble!

I still have my original 2002 avalanche as original owner. Only issue brakes lines. Otherwise it’s still an awesome truck. Many camping trips, vs tent. Custom rear screen instead of glass when camping Tows and handles awesome. It’s starting to show it’s age but otherwise great truck

were you able to open that tent to the side when you had it mounted on the Yakima Bars and Q30 Towers? Or did it open to the back?
@takeroadslesstraveled65053 ай бұрын
I could open it to the side. The mounting bars on the tent can be rotated on the base to orient it to open either to the side or to the rear of the vehicle.

It doesn’t make any sense to put a open gasket on something that has two holes. It seems like the fluid would just fight itself going back-and-forth.

One side comes from the pump and has high pressure. The other side feeds the engine parts. Oil can only go one way. From high pressure to low pressure.
