I have to say that after watching this video a few times over the past two years, I'm not positive, but I think maybe they all went to the plungy at the same time. You have to look closely. Not many people notice.

They definitely did. It would be wild if they actually filmed it in this sequence. 😅 Movie magic ftw

My job is to help maintain the old copper/aluminium broadband network, while it's all slowly replaced by fibre-optic. Most days it feels like palliative care, and there are fewer and fewer of us every year, due to redundancies and retirements. "Expert in a dying field" speaks to me on a spiritual level 😂

ya’ll mind if i read into the symbolism that might or might not have been intentional that i noticed in this music video? okay cool :) the first thing that caught my attention was the lone pepper alongside the plates of fruit, which seems to me like it connects back to the theme of the song - the singer feels out of place from the group, the ‘you’ in the ‘you wouldn’t like me’. like the pepper, they might pass at a glance, but if you looked closely or opened them up (if you literally saw what was inside them), you’d realize they were an odd one out. i think the band also hanging out and playing together could represent the group the singer is part of; everyone’s having a good time, but the singer is still grappling with their self doubt. it’s like an internal monologue, almost! i think it’s cool. the last thing i wanted to talk about was the hands reaching out from the sheet ‘background’. i thought of it like a visual of the singer’s internal thoughts, true self, whatever they feel like they need to hide, reaching out from its repressed place inside their head and trying to express itself - bobbing along to the music, waving, pointing, and near the more amped up parts of the song, acting more erratically. this last part almost felt to me like the tension of keeping themselves hidden was starting to gnaw at them, and their thoughts were becoming more frantic and scattered as a result. but then, when we see the other band members in front of the hand backdrop, and there’s more than just one pair of hands, i think that represents the realization - of the singer, the audience, or both - that they aren’t alone in whatever they were so afraid of the others knowing about. they’re more like them than they thought, and they would still like them if they saw what was inside them. it could just be my own experiences coloring this reading of the music video, but it was fun and it made me happy. i hope you liked it too :)
