I really want to become a DPT and specialize in sports. Growing up I had an abundant amount of injuries and would spend a lot of time with physical therapists, but it wasn't until my pitching coach further inspired me to learn more about PT. This then peaked my curiosity on how the body works and moves and how baseball (specifically throwing athletes) relates to things like kinesiology. On top I just want athletes to be able to play again because I know how much mental stress it can be to be out of the sport you love. If you have any other information on specializing in sports I would be happy to know.

I'm 19 and I'm at a CC, and I want to become a DPT. I'm in my second semester of my first year. Now you mentioned to take as many classes as I can at a CC before going onto the next steps. Do you have a video out on what all classes you should take at a CC or do I just listen to my advisor. What extra steps do I need to make at a CC before going on?

Anyone foolish enough to be suckered into the nonsensical, cultish world of PT as a career deserves to get caught in its web. If ppl are just that incapable of critical thinking, then it's sad, but it's their tough luck. You can't rescue other ppl because they make stupid, uninformed decisions. The problem I have is the level of denial within the profession at large, the degree to which PT grifters try to sell younger PTs on bs, over-hyped courses that do not stand up to scrutiny. Shame on the PT profession. It is an imposter.

So I’m 34 years old and I’m a rock climber. I’m kind of in this moment in my life where I’m unsure what I want to do and physical therapy is definitely something that I’ve been interested in however sports PT is something that I feel like I can teach myself. whereas Neuro PT might be a better option for me. Would it be possible for me to be more of a sports Neuro PT? For example, chess is seen as a sport and if I can use my expertise to apply to all kinds of sports near a PT would be a good start in my opinion.

If you don't mind feeling the life being crushed out of you under student loan debt, then maybe you won't mind the DPT. Physio is a bogus profession polluted by pseudoscience and lack of quality research. If you are lacking in critical thinking, if you are gullible and prone to jumping on the latest fad, if you lack integrity and don't mind ripping off the public when giving goofy exercises that anyone can look up on YT, then the PT world us your oyster. Physio is lame and goofy. Your call.

I found the section on Occupational Therapy really interesting. By the way, I've been hearing a lot about Resubot for creating resumes. Seems like a smart tool to have when you're applying for jobs in this field.

Avoid PT as one of the worst career choices going. It is truly a pathetic, insecure and just goofy profession filled with immature doctor-wannabes choking on pseudoscience. Cultish, uncritical gobbledygook nonsense forced onto students in pre-licensure programs. The attrition rate of those leaving is among the very highest in healthcare. Run far and fast from this bs career.

If it was so great, why do so many PTs leave the field every year? It is a flaky cult of wannabe doctors. An embarassment as a profession.

I am a Kinesiologist in Canada and I got my own private center and I just did 135K$ in 2024. That's right that you need to grind some time but I got an Insane vitality and energy level, so that's not too bad. The goal is to optimize your services so you can take it more easy and make some decent money.

Do you know if there’s any noticeable difference between women and men PTs in sports physical therapy? Would you say women can do just as well as men in this specialty or is there an inclination to hire men in this specific area? I’m interested in sports physical therapy but don’t know if I’ll be seen as less capable because I’m female.

Hello Doctor Lee, I hope this question reaches you. I am a biology/psych graduate and without kinesiology experience whatsoever. Is it a good idea to go to college for gain experience in the field as well as network with people in it?

That’s what I did for PTA school. I retook Anatomy and Physiology I and got an A. I had a D the first time which was 12 years ago. I was never stupid, just wanted to skate by school and now I’m older and low key feel like I’m drowning at 30. But I’m in PTA school now. It is what it is
