Having guests is a great idea. I've been watching Thomas Brush videos - he interviews ppl from the game dev world. Even though i find his interview style annoying (he interrupts his guests to talk about himself a lot)... his guests are so good that it's worth watching. The topics are typically current projects the guests are working on (indie games) but you could do the same for Linux distros or apps.

Convergence/Continuity is the BIGGEST missed opportunity in tech today. Everyone attempted it when we didn't have good hardware for it (back in like 2015). Now we have major desktop operating systems literally REWRITTEN FOR ARM, mobile CPUs/GPUs that can play Triple A desktop games, and NOBODY is touching it. WHAT. THE. HECK. Going back to basics may be an idea. There are a lot of disgruntled Windows users out there at the moment and it is getting worse as October approaches. Differences between Distros maybe a good subject. In someways, the channel is getting away from "Switching" to Linux. I miss the channel content as it was at the start.

I just bought a new computer - but for the operating system choice, i left it as None as I will be installing Linux, not Windows on this. The transition from Windows to Linux has been a long one, but the adds in start menu, and then finally copilot and the stupid windows 11 hardware requirements pushed me out. Now all my home PC's (even my surface book2 and surface pro's) run Linux and i haven't looked back. And my older hardware makes great servers and other things that Windows simply wont support anymore. Congrats Microsoft - here's another customer you lost.

Quartzite is a nice place to desert camp in Az. . The people from Canada love to come down there to avoid the snow. I met two lovely ladies there one winter in the chinese restaurant by the Pilot truck stop. The food was good and the company very good. I had an enjoyable evening of conversation with them.

I still do not understand why Microsoft suggests in their articles to roll back to Windows 10 when the security updates will no longer arrive after October. I can only understand it if Microsoft plans to experiment with OS's as a service, as nightmarish as that sounds.

Tom. There is no way high wage, barely affordable housing US chips will be cheaper than low wage developing Chinese chips. The US should collaborate and profit share with China. That would be far better. The current trajectory will just mean China will develop and surpass the US leaving the US out in the cold.

As a noob coming from windows 10 I can tell you that I don't care about having 100% control over my OS. Just more than windows and enough to do some appearance customization. To me the most important things are stability and ease of use!

there is a paticular windows program i would like to use again that is dependant on visual basic of both 32 and 64 bit , SQL server and Win32OpenSSL 1.0 .. thou i know that most of this can be done in wine .. later editions of what i want to run are more compiled to run on windows.. should any gurus want to look at my dream google emucoach and look into either shadowlands or dragonblight servers and let me know if my dream is possible on linux

Politics aside tariffs are a tool it’s not foolproof and it involves risk so trump is taking a risk I do believe there must be better options because punishing everyone for the actions of some is not wise manufacturing won’t come back the youths are all going to collage I don’t think there is interest even if they decide to come back what is more likely to happen is they will just move there company too a country not affected by the tariffs

This is great news! It means as windows users are forced off their existing systems there will be lots of relatively recent used computers on the market - that we can pick up and run Linux on them. ;-)

Linux Zorin_OS is by far easier for ex-Windows users to transition to. It's more familiar that Mint and the help forum is far more friendly and easier for newbies to search for information. The people on the forum are far friendlier and helpful than the Mint forum too. So many have trouble with Balena Etcher - Rufus (Windows) or Ventoy are both superior to Etcher.

I like Zorin, but I think Linux Mint is better. The biggest problem I have with Gnome is that the DE is not intuitive and the desktop display settings can be over complicated.

Garmin. They refuse to make a Linux compatible update downloader or release their coding. To update your expensive Garmin Flight GPS or the one you use for your car, you have to have Windows or Mac.

Hi! I just switched to Linux about a month ago away from windows 10. I'm so glad! And I'm a new fan of your channel! I'd like to request you to give a look to Universal Blue's projects Bluefin and Bazzite. They are very beginner friendly, immutable and maintenance free! All updates are automated! You realize how good it is once you can feel how nice it is to use a system that requires no maintenance. They really promote the idea of an invisible distro, and it would very well! This looks like the future of the Linux distros.

I actually want to switch to Linux. Problem is that the remote functionality in Microsoft Teams doesn't work on Linux. And in that case you are forced to install Windows again by your colleagues. 😊

I have 20-some working PCs in arm's reach, dating back to 2002. The only one that "supports" Win11 is a netbook that is also the slowest and least capable of the lot (1.1 GHz Celeron, 4GB RAM). Which is why I call bullshit on Microsoft's hardware "requirements" (outside of the TPM nonsense). Meanwhile... reportedly if you replace the installer package on Win11 with the one from Win10, it merrily installs.

The problem with Linux is it's a nightmare to troubleshoot. You have an incompatible peripheral? Good luck having it recognized without copy-pasting a bunch of commands which you don't know the function of, and praying that your fix doesn't break some other part of the system.

Most of the problems can be fixed by restarting the computer ...Waiting for a fix to a bad update ..Re-installing an App...or Rolling back with Time Shift.

I'm curious why you think your computer is safe because of a password ... Your bias password And TPM can be wiped.... And your encrypted drive can be wiped or become a fun toy to play with... FYI Lenx offers no more privacy Or security than windows In the near future... !!!! forced client side scanning or no access.!!!! Is your future... And when it comes To private AI... The problem is we don't have any privacy now..I can walk right through your vpn.. can follow you through a proxy. new Android and ios devices! your information can be collected before you can encrypt it.. And via user agreement you have already granted them permission to scan your device.. And because of that Linux is already being client side scanned... PS. Only noobs need Prebuilt hardware/ software tools or AI to hack or reverse engineer software.. When I started hacking there was only a command line and no prebuilt hacking tools.. Doss reigned supreme and everything else ran on top...

That something is called a Virtual Machine, WINE, or Dual boot on two separate Drives. You can also Run Linux on a USB drive with Persistence, enabling you to save your work, USB Drive should be 64 GB and up. ..This way you can run your Win 10 offline for life when needed.

And then people say "you aren't forced to upgrade or buy a new PC". If you know what you are doing, yes, you aren't forced. But majority of computer users don't know much about computers in the first place, let alone knowing about Linux or have financial capability to get a Mac. For them, they are essentially "forced" to upgrade.

what got me stopping using windows as a primary OS is that I was checking my account login info, and there's been attempts on a regular basis from people, both locally and internationally, trying to get into my account. I have it on a virtual machine with a local account now, just in case I need a windows software for college. I'm mainly just Mac and openMandriva now. I've been really liking the M4 Mac Mini.
