Nice work. A cautionary tale, however. 39 years ago I lost my middle finger and severely cut my index, third, and pinkie fingers on a table saw. A moment’s inattention changed my life, as a 10” carbide tipped blade running at 3400 rpm didn’t distinguish between wood and flesh. Watching you work without guards with your hands so close to the blade makes me cringe. For your sake and that of your family, please pause and rethink your woodworking safety protocols. I thought I was safe. I’ll spare you the photos. Tom

I have a shoulder yoke design and was needing to have a degree of sweep on the hooks and would like the entire piece to be rounded. There are challenging bends on the piece but it's necessary because it fits over my trick scooter. I've used other materials for this project but to make it in wood is desirable.

So I have my first situation where I needed to use the screw in spacer on the inside to center on a piece of stock a little smaller than 3/4. So then I needed to drill into the face, and found that the clamps cannot tighten because they hit the spacer before the wood. How do I resolve for that? Do I need to use a block of wood between the claps and bottom of the board I’m drilling into?

Great video. I recently bought a dowel max and wanted to use it today but I couldn’t figure out how to get it work like you had it for the shelf, that was exactly what I needed to see. Very informative video. Worth a like and subscribe. Thanks.

Having templates to make your pieces is an absolute must. Having a CNC to make them is another matter. I recently purchased a Shaper Origin, so I'm going to give it a try making templates for a similar piece. Love how you round the inside edges and the drawer fronts to give it a much softer look. Gonna give that a try, too. Beautiful work!

I built a smaller version 20 years ago. As a scientist, I understood the need to keep errors to an absolute minimum. I couldn’t do it. Nearly every single one of my drawers had to be customized to fit its space. As far as I can tell, you are not human. Congratulations on constructing an epic piece of furniture.

What does this method buy you over just using a round-over bit?
@parillaworks
@parillaworks 4 ай бұрын
There’s a few reasons. Large roundover bits can be expensive and possibly single-use if only needed once. Also, this method allows you to do any diameter you want in any increment. You can sneak up on the perfect fit if your dowel needs to fit into a hole/mortise. A roundover bit may give you a nice dowel but it might not match a hole you drill.

Hi John, I have a question about the Brusso hinge mortise template. It calls for a 3/4 OD guide bushing but the only one I can find is too tall. The Brusso instructions say that you need to shorten it to just less than 1/8 inch. Did you have to do this or were you able to locate one somewhere that would work or is there another solution? Thank you for your time and I really appreciate all of your videos that have helped me further my knowledge of woodworking. Greg Harvey
@parillaworks
@parillaworks 4 ай бұрын
Hi Greg. Yes I did have to do that. I think I had a set with a few 3/4” OD bushings. I used a hacksaw to trim one down to the correct length. And that one is now my designated Brusso bushing.
