I worked it out a while ago. It’s actually a really cool feature so what you do is you create a new sound just like you have however you don’t need to mess with all the volumes. All you need to do is switch the key from internal to external and that’s job done. It’s quite cool. You should try it.

Jon, I don't have a PA5X yet. I hope to have one soon, my poor PA800 is on its last legs. In reading the manual, it specifically says the style parts are supposed to be on channels 9-16. You still had data on the first eight channels. At least towards the end of the video you showed that. I would remove that data after you've changed the markers and then try importing it that way. See if it will properly import if you only have channels 9-16 in there. Again, I don't have a PA5X . . . yet, so this is just a guess and a shot in the dark.
@jonmicheals62128 күн бұрын
Yes, you are correct that the Korg Pa5x in Style mode only reads channels 9 -16. Which means there should not be anything on those tracks. But if you don't identify them as being there the Pa5x would not recognize the Midi file. Trust me I worked at this for weeks trying to get a Midi file to work in the Style editor and I had no luck. But I took a Style, exported it out as a Midi file and then brought it into my software and created a template type file. And with that I can basically create any Midi file, copy and paste it into my software, create the markers and then export that file out as a Midi file. And... the Pa5x has no problem with it. In fact, I now edit my Styles via my software. When you get your Pa5x there will be a learning curve, it is quite different and can be a pain. But I have had mine for a few years now, just when they were released and their it no other keyboard that can produce music as fast as the Pa5x. And don't forget to go to my "Keyboards Info & Tutorials" playlist. I have a lot of videos on the Pa5x. Take care my friend. 👍🎹👍
@GaryMCurran28 күн бұрын
@@jonmicheals621 thanks Jon. I kind of figured as much, but sometimes we just overlook the silliest things. I'm pretty sure that when I get mine, I'll be going back over your channel to see what I need to know. There's a lot in these keyboards. Even the ancient PA800 I have now, 18 years old, still has a lot of functions that some newer keyboards today still lack. Korg was always ahead of their time. I would like to suggest a different topic for future videos. The Yamaha styles only have one Chord Variation, where going all the way back to the original i3, Korg had six Chord Variations. Now, I'm not really a good player, I play for me, and I didn't have a lot of lessons growing up, and my musical theory education is severely lacking. But, what I would love to see would be something that might give some inspiration for taking a Yamaha style with only one Chord Variation and modifying that style to have two or even three Chord Variations, say one more for minor and maybe one for diminished chords. I may not be able to take too much out of it, but there might be others that can. Just a suggestion.
@jonmicheals62127 күн бұрын
@GaryMCurran How an arranger keyboard handles Styles, especially the Pa5x, is that it transposes the Variations as you play a chord. So if you play a Minor, a 7th, or a Augmented 5th, the keyboard transposes it to that chord. So, in order for the keyboard to do that, it needs a reference point. That is why most all Variations, Intros, Fills, Endings and Breaks are written in C Major. And if you write your Style in another key, you need to specify that. From my experience, C Major works the best and you could have some trouble with any other key. I would suggest you learn some scales, because some music theory will be needed if you are to use this keyboard to its fullest. I have been a guitarist for most of my life. And scales are very important to learn. They set the mood of the song and give you the structure to form chords. Yes, I studied Eddie Van Halen, but I also studied Rick Wakman and Jordan Rudless too. Take my advise and learn the keyboard because most music created today is done on a keyboard. Take care my friend. 👍🎹👍

A recurring problem just came up files in use cannot be deleted how do you delete files in this thing what are the only way I found is I have to take the little flash drive out and put it in the laptop and delete stuff I should not have to do that it's saying that the freaking file is in use and I can't get rid of it and I need to because it's taking up room on something that I don't want to pay for too much like another flash drive and then it lets you make your accumulate songs that are bullshit songs that are not supposed to be there just cluttering up the thing
@jonmicheals621Ай бұрын
@alanadee2514 If you have a Style or anything else on the Pa5x running related to that file. The Pa5x will not allow you to delete that file. Sometimes, you have to load 2 Styles in both player 1 and 2 that are not related to the files you're deleting. Then, look for the button right next to the settings button labeled File. This will give you access to all the internal files and external files such as your USB drive. Also, before you use that USB flash drive, make sure there's nothing important on it and have the Pa5x format that drive. I have had problems with flash drives not working with the Pa5x. I now have just one flash drive I use only with the Pa5x, which at the start I had the Pa5x format that drive in the keyboard and now I have no problems. 👍🎹👍

So to do the song Hey Bulldog Beatles Made the song from scratch on the pa5x sequencer I'm talking about the 16 trac sequencer Then after I was done getting it as good as I could I loaded it up on player one and then I pushed out a little the marker box upper right-hand corner of the song play went to the markers there were none because you have to make them so the Riff in the song in the verse I just put a marker right at the beginning of that and I could control that I just push the button to get it to repeat as many times as I need from the buttons outside on Deck that is after you save all this and give it a name and I put a couple of more for different parts like the chorus part where it starts ascending upwards which is so cool and you know you just do the song like what you hear on the recording so all the variations and all the pills are there you put them in when you do this and I like the idea that I can add as many verses I want or you can Loop them from the outside by the way you know that if you double click on the button outside on the deck it will go into Loop mode I haven't completely figured out Loop mode yet sort of I just started doing this like last night but I got like this is I used to do this in 1980 or so with a drum machine I don't know if I had the X3 Korg Workstation no it wasn't it was a Casio a little Casio Keyboard I think I still got it around you I kept it for just for because

This is the crappiest sequencer that I've ever used where is the copy where is the append so I can like make a drum pad without playing 15 minutes of drums in making mistakes as I go I like to do like a couple of measures of it maybe four and then append or and it'll last me how many measures I want to put 8 where does it do that I don't even see a copy paste kind of thing in here this is so I'm telling you this basically this is a primitive sequencer even the PA 1000 has a better sequence than this especially when you can use a style and I used to like that idea I'd have the basis for the song and then I can go in and do it in the midi sequencer the 16 track and then I could change my baselines accordingly but at least I'd have the basic drum section and all the other stuff in there and done in time now I'm having to do it all manual it takes too long
@jonmicheals621Ай бұрын
@alanadee2514 I have to agree to a certain point. It is not an easy sequencer to use. Now, for me, I have the Pa5x connected to my DAW via Midi. Then, I can create a sequence as a Midi file. It is so much easier. You can even bring that Midi file into Style Edit to create a Style. Korg has focused more on the arranger in this keyboard than the sequencer. Which I think Style Edit is easier to use than the sequencer.

@1mataleo1 Yes. If you're just trying to lower the Keyset one octave, go to the Mixer, tap on little icon on the right, make sure you're on Keyboards and Pads then locate Lower. Then tap on Tuning, and the second knob down from the top on Lower will adjust the Lower Keyset one half step per number. So the lower it down one octave, you would turn it to -12. If you're trying to lower the arrangement down, you would have to go into the individual accompaniments and do the same thing. 👍🎹👍

Can I go directly out of the KORG PA5X into my Mac laptop to record? Do I need an additional audio interface to do that. I have Ableton Live 12 on my laptop. Thanks for the help.
@jonmicheals621Ай бұрын
@stevecalvert1382 At the present time, there's no software for linking the Pa5x directly to your laptop. The only way I link my Pa5x to my software in my computer is by a 5 pin MIDI connection. Which you will probably need to have an external audio interface to do that or a USB to MIDI converter. It seems that the Midi connection via USB isn't as efficient as the 5 pin Midi In, Out and Thru on the back of the keyboard. Scroll down through my playlist, "Keyboard Info and Tutorials." Look for Pa5x to Mp3. You can directly record MP3s in the Pa5x, then save them to a flash drive then bring them into your software. If you do get an interface you can record directly out of the Pa5x via 6 audio outs, L&R, 1&2 and 3&4. Which means you have six individual tracks at one time coming out of the Pa5x. Again, check out my playlist, I have a video on how I connect my Pa5x to my DAW. 👍🎹👍

Is it possible to import a style to sequencer..? Like a drum pattern.Thanks
@jonmicheals621Ай бұрын
@musicbab1 You can't bring a Style directly into the sequencer with the Pa5x. But there is a way to do it. First take your Style and Export it out as a Midi file. Then bring it into player 1. Now the Korg looks at that Midi file as a song. Then go into Rec/Edit, Song Edit and there will be all the information of that style in the sequencer. But this would not solve your problem, because all the information for Variations, Fills, Intros and Endings will be on that file. So if you're looking just for a drum track. I would export out the style to MIDI into your software. Then get rid of all the stuff that you don't want, then save it as a Midi file and bring it back into the Pa5x. Bring it in as a song to player 1. Then go to Rec/Edit then Song Edit and there will be all the information you want. 👍🎹👍
