I am working on this and I’m sure as many of already you know, it’s really rewarding and exciting when it starts coming together. Unfortunately, I am finally becoming a real musician just before my 65th birthday. If I was where I am now when I was 15 I would have considered music college and a career in music. But I guess better late than never. HaHa

Kind of confusing for me, you seem to go to the fourth not in each scale and then repeat starting at the note you landed on prior. Don't get what it has to do withe the circle of fourth's. Great lesson for learning the notes all over the fret board. I will watch again and see what I am missing. Keep up the good work and thanks for all your help. Now I get it, the fourth of each scale is the next key in the circle of fourths.
@CharlieLongGuitar6 күн бұрын
@@ivordavies-w4i good question…starting at 2:21 I explain the concept pretty clearly. The idea is to be able to move a practice concept (triads, pentatonics WHATEVER) and be able to immediately without stopping transpose it up a fourth until you’ve played it in all 12 keys. Most students I encounter usually practice things in the same key over and over…and are helpless if I ask them to play the same idea in a key they don’t normally play in

Playing a melodic solo at slow tempo's are easy for me. But I don't have many licks. I have great phrasing. I can work the bends but can't alternate pick worth a shit. Don't use many triads, don't use arpeggios. So playing solo's in a band would make me very limited. It makes me feel overwhelmed and defeated.
@abhinandanghosh20285 күн бұрын
Using triads and some embellishments and insert the idea of 1st 3rd and 5th as shown in this lesson and adding some notes of minor scale are some of the ways you can try to make solos more appealing I guess. Anyway that's just my thoughts. You can try out other ways you are comfortable with. All the best to you.

Great ideas here. I’m a bit surprised that playing with a metronome wasn’t one of them. It’s something that really challenging for me and it shows the weak spots in my phrasing and ability to stay in control of what I’m doing. It’s like taking a big step backwards

Can someone tell me what he means in exercise 4 by "change the scale to match each chord" ? Does that mean switching to a different pattern in the same key, or playing a different key entirely with each chord change?
