I've sold over two thousand of these boxes. I don't get returns. I've gotten 1 back that was actually bad. We've got two cars at the shop that have had these boxes on them for 8-9 years with zero issues. One of them is a daily that's done drag week and the full Hot Rod Power Tour. Done right, the 6014 is a VERY reliable platform. I *do* get loads of calls of people having installation issues, but we find those problems are always either carb or wiring issues, which is why I made this video. You *can* kill them of course, if you go welding on the car when they're hooked up, or you don't properly fuse the connection to the box, or you backfeed into the box.

@@Scramspeed I put one in my car project and it works. not on the road yet but the engine runs. I'm on LS carb FB page and have come across a few dead 6014 stories. I don't know how they would just die. I'm just a bit paranoid to be on a road trip in my cruiser and die out in BFE. Now I have seen people removing fuel on the stock ECU and only controlling spark. I'm told free software TunerPro can do this but I'd hate to get into the cost of HPtuners.

I have been swapping LS's into everything for over a dozen years and I did the whole FI thing and it worked well. 4 years ago I LS swapped a '85 Mustang LX for my son using a 2009 4.8 and beefed WC T5 I had. After the hardware was done I flopped on a Holley 590 Truck Avenger I had on an Ebay single plane manifold I wanted to use on a run stand just for proof of concept in the Mustang to work out any bugs. Well that thing ran very strong, started right up, didn't bog and with a little timing work in the MSD box would pin you right into the seat and knocked down 26mpg on the hiway to boot, needless to say it never got the FI. No one around here is building race cars, they are looking for cheap power and reliability, everyone understands carbs and have been very happy with my work. A buddy had a '52 Chevy Deluxe and the old 6 had run it's course. I pulled the 4.8 from my son's Mustang and replaced it with a cammed (535hp) 6L LQ4 and 4L60. Then I dropped the 4.8 into the Deluxe with a long shaft Turbo 350 I had. My buddy came back swearing at me because now he had to have a disk brake upgrade but he absolutely loved it on the road running smooth without a hitch. Don't get me wrong, my daily driver is a mini tubbed, chopped '68 C10 with a cammed LM7 5.3 and a 4L60, running a full Fitech multiport FI system with long tubes and a posi, it runs great, very strong, cruises at 25mpg, starts on the first hit and has all the advantages that FI can give you but on a simple street car IMHO the carb wins. Simple and cheaper once you consider all the fuel system pieces and work involved to do FI right from tank to injector the performance isn't all that different and for the average person might be a little more reliable.

I have been building carbs and V8 engines since 1995 for a marine engine shop in my home town of Cleveland Ohio for Lake Erie great lakes out boarding. I saw the ebay knock offs start up around 2018 and looked at one during covid when getting after market stuff was at a stand still and can say these have a long way to go to be overall suitable for long term use. What I can say is that because the parts are not a match to holley you cannot just put on holley carb parts to fix or upgrade it and would have to buy another complete chinese copy unit for those parts needed. What is even crazier is they started selling at $99 and now are at $300 on average for same carb as 5 years ago. It would be better to just get a holley core to rebuild which is so easy to do even a 10 year old can do it. It is sad Holley and others let china take over production to save money and they have no such thing as "patents" in China's CCP government or businesses and reason chinese knock offs have been a thing since the 1970s in which our government mandated all chinese products have a "made in China" imprint or tag so as not to fool buyers.

Most definitely agreed. There will be a lot more of that information in the next video where we run it on the dyno vs. the carb they are knocking off.

@Scramspeed I just ordered a real holley directly from Holley this time. I have an 850 on a mean 454 and I love it. Great performance, definitely expected to be a little less driveable, but I had to close the choke way down on the Chinese unit to get it to work, which tells me it must be jetted too lean. The worst part is the real brawlers aren't much more expensive than the junk ones. If this one isn't right, I'll definitely go fuel injection. It is a lot less complicated lol.

@@ldnwholesale8552 Yes and no. You can put a Holley squirter on it, but you need the pump screw as well, because these carbs come with flat screws instead of beveled as they need to be to fit a holley squirter. Holley part# is 121-7 and they are $17.00 each....

I didnt know there were chinese knockoffs of a standard Holley 4 bbl but i guess i shouldnt be surprised. I knew there were Weber clones and I've heard folks swear by them and folks swear at 'em. Even in the comments here the sentiment is the same. As you say, for someone learning the ropes these sound like bad news and the appeal will be significant at almost half price. When you look at all the precision machining and quality control that needs to happen for a carb to work well & consistently... most likely it's just not there.

Funny LOL I have used these knock off carbs on the engine dyno and I will say between a us carb or holley These knock offs arent too far behind holley. That being said as far as power production the holley was really easy to tune and get right. The knock offs are a burden in tunning and wont support more than 500 crank hp we tried it. None of the holley jets will cross to the knock off. But a drill bit and some time will get you close, The holley we used on a cam 6.2 and 630 lift cam, Crank and idled no problem small adujustment on the idle screw and fuel pressure. The knock was hell wouldent hold fuel pressure and leak internal on the back circut.

I bought chinese Weber IDF carbs back when they came out. I wasted untold amounts of time trying to get them to run right. Found similar problems. The worst tho was that I found metal chips and burrs in the passageways. Also found they were not even the same design inside so I suspect most of my problem were the standard jet sizes were not working cause the hole and passage sizes were different. Making air jets work different.I spent weeks on the carbs trying to get them to work. Finally I gave them away and got authentic Italian made ones. Those tuned perfect in 10 minutes and ran perfect for years. I WILL NEVER GO CHEAP ON CARBS AGAIN. NOT WORTH IT!!

You just told everyone your thoughts based on what you see without even putting the carburetor on an engine and running it. Your use of the term "modern carburetor " is funny! Carburetor's are far from ground breaking tech! Holley patents ran out long ago so is China really stealing the design? From a tinkering standpoint your correct in probably every way. Did they use the swaging process on the screws for the throttle plates instead of locktight?
@ScramspeedАй бұрын
I totally hear you, but if we get a set of cylinder heads and the intake valves are all different heights and the valve job is junk, or the deck isn't flat, we don't have to put them on an engine to know that they're not going to work well. I did not list everything wonky that I found wrong with this carburetor in this video, as I go over some of it in the next. Stealing or not, its obvious they're just copying and cheapening what they see without knowing the reasons for it. If you're interested in what we found when we put this carb on and ran it, please stay tuned!
