As someone who has had 4 Saabs, I agree that there is something about them. I currently have a 2010 9-3 Convertible, which I picked up last year. I thought I'd mainly use it as a summer car but find myself using it all the time. I also have a Jaguar XK with a 4.2 V8, which is objectively a better car in every way, but I still find myself using the Saab a lot! They just work well and are easy to live with. I also agree about the Saab community. I often go to the Classic Car show at the NEC and the Saab Owners Club are some of the nicest people you will meet and always have time to chat and even remember you from year to year.

manual 1.1cc about 20km/l fun to drive corners flat and i like the looks (subjective) steering a bit vague, doesnt feel that slow but not much torque under 25 hundred. How reliable will it be?

Had mine for 13 years from new here in Aus. No issues with it going off road and gone through a few rivers and some narly stuff with no issues. The only thing that really annoys me is the key fob which the battery is soldered on thew board and need a good tech to change it (dont believe the you tube vids). Also a little niggle with the gearbox sometimes knocks when going down a gear.

Its a shitty unreliable money pit,take it from experience every part on them is a common fault customer service is shite just like the car. Japanese Cars all day for me made the mistake of owning a landrover against advice of others was bought and sold within 3 months first problem was within a week of buying it never again

Owned my 09 plate HSE for nearly 4 years and now with 105,000 , the only thing I've had to change is one intercooler pipe , love the car because as many others have stated it's a pleasure to own and drive.

Catastrophic engine failure is always down to the owner ignoring many many warning sounds and driving it until it breaks! Regular service and not ignoring strange noises is how cars keep going. I dated a woman years ago who would turn up the music to ignore rattles and squeaks until her cars died! Then she would flutter her eyes at her dad and he would get her another car! Were all the brands she destroyed rubbish? I think not! She just didn't care because it was never her purse opening for the next car to ruin.

I love mine. The only thing I dislike is the auto wing mirrors in reverse. On my they go mental and change angles at least three times whenever me I reverse more than a few meters. I have to move my head like a cockatoo to reverse using them.

The car comes with a trickle charger that just plugs in at home. I just bought a 2021 MG ZS EV and charging overnight it was at 100% by 4am. So they do just charge at home. Just like your smartphone.

You are so right about the seats. Comfort and power together in an irresistible package. I’ve driven many different, modern types of car but if I have to drive 500 miles and step out fresh as a daisy when I get there it is always my 2008 Saab 9-5 Aero Estate. Great looking car too - especially when you purr past all the jacked up jelly moulds of today.

My first car was a Mazda 2 Skyactive from 2015 and since it was my moms car i finally bought my first car, the Seat Arosa 2001 50hp and let me tell you, i love that car. I bought it third hand but it still runs amazing, had to change some things to it but still the repair costs are pretty cheap. Gasoline cost me about 30€ to fill him entirely up and i drive daily with it. I think i couldnt have had a better first car to be honest even tho ive had to get used to the new max speed bcs its a lot less than the Mazda 😅

I have owned and driven FL2s for the last 13 years and driven over 240,000 kms. I have had 2 previous FL2s - both had failed Power Transfer Units, door lock failures and some other small issues. Six months ago, I was luck to find my current 2014 FL2 with just 33,000km when I bought it - as good as new and a quarter of the price of a new Disco Sport! I like FL2 because they are mechanically and electrically relatively simple and easy to maintain compared with recent cars. They don't have the nightmare timing chain that later Disco Sport and Evoque have. Here is Australia they don't have a DPF to worry about. I can service these cars myself at relatively low cost and the parts are easily available. There is also great support available on the LR forums. Some will say its a dressed up Ford Mondeo (lots of its parts are stamped Fordco and the TD engine is the same) - I see that as a benefit. Some critics call it a LR 'Pretender' - so what, I know its a very capable vehicle. I regard it as a economical (fuel and fixed costs), robust, workhorse that does everything I need of a car in style and comfort. I intend to own my current FL2 for at least the next 10 years. No doubt it will have some issues but unlikely to be be anything that no one has seen before.

Love those early wheels. Years ago I had a 9-3 that lost its back box on the M20, weirdly the noise inside the car didn’t change at all. I know they have a bad reputation for interior quality but the soundproofing has always seemed very good to me.
@jagracershoestring6093 ай бұрын
We have three of them. The 2013 SD4 XS is the best to drive, and it has 193k on the clock. They all drive differently, and have cost a lot in new transmissions. That's because people do not use quality tyres with equal tread. Two we have had five years, latest this year at auction, sight unseen.

Absolutely love my freelander 2, had it 4 years now and it's brilliant. As for things breaking, that happens to every car and like every car, it should be serviced properly. Oil & filter every 6 months, fuel filter every 2 years, haldex every 3 years, timing belt at 8or9 and don't forget the big 10 year service. All fluids front to back Including auto box fluid. Find a good independent LR garage and you'll be fine. Mine has cost around £4 k to repair and service over 4 years and its worth every penny. Its alot of car for the money and I'll keep it as long as I possibly can. Great video, nice to hear other sensible owners agreeing how good they are. 👏👍

I've just spent the last 30 minutes checking out good ones for sale online after watching this video. I have owned Saabs in the past and totally agree with all the comments Saab owners have said. The old joke about some Saabs being a glorified Vectra are tiresome. I reckon one of the reasons Saab went out of business was that they totally ignored GM about just sticking different body panels and badges on a Vectra and shoving it out of the door for sale. Instead, they went ahead and made extensive changes to virtually everything at great cost. They were right though and delivered a far superior product...how many people go misty eyed with nostalgia about a Vectra? Not a lot is my guess.
