Yeah I think that’s just city driving as a whole tbh, I live between Gloucester and Hereford and even they have similar issues despite being much smaller than Birmingham. I’m surprised you didn’t mention the Aston Expressway though, I know it isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but I find it wonderfully quirky. Also re the A38 get yourself to the Northern Ireland version at some point in the future, it’s a very different experience than the GB one (probably because it’s only half a mile long!)

Aston Expressway can be horrific for traffic! I'll keep an eye out if I'm ever back in Northern Ireland.

@@BleeCarswell Yeah I agree there although I still have to drive it when I’m up in that area! If you are in the future it’s to the west of Strabane

Yeah driving in Birmingham is rough, but unfortunately that's city driving. London is even worse. There is no escape. In the cities, everyone is for themselves and that translates to the road. Plus you get the sense that people in big cars act like they own the road, weaving in and out of traffic because they can. Incredibly dangerous and frustrating. Makes driving miserable

I don’t think I’d even attempt to drive in London! Very glad to have moved slightly further out of Birmingham. I can even catch the train to work now which negates the need to get annoyed in traffic (as long as the trains are running 😂)

yeah I lived in China for 10 years. For the first 4-5 years I didn't drive there as the public transport is pretty good but when my daughter was born I realised I needed a car. If you think Birmingham drivers are bad, Chinese drivers are 50x worse! I did gradually adapt becoming much more assertive and not getting angry every time someone cut me up as it happened nearly every journey. It took me a while to adjust back to UK roads and driving style.

Wow, credit to you for adapting and not getting annoyed at it! Don’t think I could face driving somewhere worse than Birmingham 😂 Thanks for watching 👍

@@BleeCarswell oh there was plenty of anger in the first year or 3 haha but yeh Birmingham is a relatively rubbish place to drive around, maybe partly because the public transport is crap forcing people who don't want to drive onto the roads. Manchester and Sheffield have trams, Newcastle has the Metro, Birmingham, Bristol and Leeds have nothing!

@@Autotrawler1 good point regarding publish transport. My brother lives in Manchester and I'm also jealous of the Bee Network they've got.

The worst place to drive is in Trowbridge in Wiltshire, there is a massive one way system but once you get in it there doesn't seem to be any way out. You just keep going round in circles all the time.
@BleeCarswell6 ай бұрын
Nothing worse than a confusing one way system! Couple that with bus lanes, etc and it’s a recipe for frustration 😤

Don't forget about the clean air zone daily charge which for me is £8. I took my family to the bullring shopping for the privilege it cost £9 for parking plus the CAZ £8.
