That’s a nice steady hand. I like the way he cuts the sides. Nice feathering out. Very good work on butt joints. It’s kind of like art work. Nice work.

Exactly how i do them, what kind of mud do you use? I use CGC lightweight AP red box. Im in Ontario

I'm in Manitoba, interesting how material availability changes across provinces, I've only seen CGC AP Redbox in photos, doesn't seem to be supplied here. I typically use Certainteed Yellow and Green, occasionally Blue AP for small jobs. Sometimes CGC Synko as well (Yellow/Green, sometimes blue AP). I don't have a huge preference between CGC or Certainteed. I've found CGC green topping sands slightly easier, but Certainteed Green coats slightly smoother, but it's a barely perceptible difference

dont mean to dig but wouldnt it be more efficient to scrim up the joints and apply material with a trowel?

Are u using a flat or curve trowel? I was wonder witch one would be good to skim coating? Is the flat one good for skim coat i know they say the curve one is good for taping but i dont know what the flat one is good for yet .im thinking on buying one in pass i just used knifes and spatulas
@Interior_Works26 күн бұрын
@@JoseReyes-xs3js flat trowel would be best for skim. Curved trowel is more limited to just filling beads and joints. Good to have both. But the flat trowel is all- purpose

you dont let the tape dry before coating?
@Interior_Works Жыл бұрын
The tape was coated the next day. Edited video. Each stage was a day apart. That said however a butt-joint could be taped and coated along the sides to level it in the same day. Important thing is that minimal mud is on top of the tape, on same day, otherwise it would lift/seperate and cause blisters.

I guess it turned out ok... But that looked like a waist of a lot of mud for one joint.

It's a butt joint, the horizontal end of the sheet, the tape sits proud. If a straight edge were placed against it, it would rock back and forth. Most drywall finishers would agree that ~30" width would be minimum. Factor edge/beveled joints are recessed and 12-14" width is standard. Butt joints do require more mud to make flat.

Non drywalled comment if they don't understand how wide butt joints are filled
