The fact that sonic in this game calls tails “little brother” bought a tear to my eye there are so many wholesome moments and callbacks to the past the fact that the ancients are ancestors of Chaos, the relationship between Eggman and sage and actually the relationships between all the characters. as a long time fan of the series to see it treated with such respect for the first time in years, it made me so genuinely happy.

I would have to say the biggest selling point of Sonic Frontiers for me is the the story and character development; it is easily some of the best we've gotten since the Adventure era, and redeems Tails, Knuckles, and Amy (just in time since they will be playable next year)🤩 Even Dr Robotnik get some much needed character love through his relationship with Sage (aka the best new character for the franchise since Blaze)🤗 I would have loved if they handled The End better, but Ian Flynn did an AMAZING job overall 😎

There's also a total port of the 06 hub worlds over Kronos Island with actual stages from 06 replacing cyberspace stages. They are almost completely functional. There's also a mod that loads the full version of Kronos from when Kronos, Rhea, and Ouranos were one big island. I cannot wait to see the crazy stage mods we get. And just imagine if we get some crazy boss replacements for Super Sonic?

What I like to do with the boost is turn all the gameplay sliders up (except camera), get the infinite boost and the mode thingy for the faster boost and just use the cyloop as a sort of boost trail, looks really nice imo

The accidentally flying off ledges actually help me out in the game a lot for example. I was trying to get to tails and I didn’t know how to get up there then I found it. A ledge. I flew away and got close to the platform tails was in and realized I could use that ledge to my advantage. It took me about 30 minutes to get up there but once I got up there I was astonished. But at the same time very happy. The ledge jumping if used correctly is very useful.

Honestly playing lego dimension’s sonic content and playing as him in that game prepared me for this game. The idea that you can just zoom up high on the air unexpectedly is something I use for my advantage with those games that it just fits sonic the hedgehog. The core concepts of his classic zones being that the momentum you build up gets rewarded to get pass through quickly is somewhat being replicated unintentionally and I like that a lot.

Oh you mention the flying off the ledge thing. That happened so much at the start but then I started learning how it happened, then I start incorporating it into my movement. There was this one part on the final zone that you had to get to a far off island on these rails and a whole obstacle course for a time trial. So I get speed and send myself flying, then barely catching a rail. I didn't make the full skip, but man was that fun. I started getting good at doing it

I actually liked how the homing attack brought your momentum to a halt in cyberspace oddly enough, it meant that just mashing the attack button wasn't optimal for speed and instead encouraged using your other movement options for those S rank times. Weird, I know.

Regarding Frontiers, I remember this one KZbinr saying that Sonic Frontiers wasn't worth buying because the overworld was "too dark and gloomy" and that the only good thing was the special stages since they were colorful. He also complained about the combat system, saying that all you do is mash one button, yet he admitted that he only played about an hour of the game before making his "review", and thus, did not unlock other abilities, which use different buttons. It was honestly one of the worst videos I have ever seen.

A character who protects Eggman until the end and decides to raise Eggman himself as a daughter I never thought I would love sage so much I can't wait to see how she interacts with Eggman in future works after she gets her feelings. Sonic Frontiers is a game that I never thought I'd ever see. I've already beaten this game 3-times since launch, and it still feels so good to play every time! Definitely in the top-3 Sonic games alongside Unleashed & Generations! From the story beats & tone, to the (sometimes janky, but I didn't care, their that good) Super Sonic bosses, and randomly sending Sonic into the sky for easy experience farming (trust me it's more fun than it sounds). This to me, is THE definitive Sonic experience to date! Still needs some tweaking here & there (the pop-in and Koco one-by-one upgrades included), but I was smiling all the way through, and I don't think any other game from any other series has achieved that for me! And I'm just going to say this without spoiling anything, but Sage is one of the best new Sonic characters in quite some time. I actually became attached to the character more than say, Chip from Unleashed. Sorry, but it had to be said, and I can't wait for the new DLC's to drop. *P.S. Dancing titans are the most hilarious thing ever, and you will not convince me otherwise. XD.

Turns out the best thing I've experienced is not the movies, not waiting for the chance to get the game, uh... Prime wasn't exactly what I thought in terms of which audience it was faced towards which... Hurt me pretty bad. The thing that made me happy all Sonic Season since 2020-2023 is SONIC AND TAILS R. I loved the sky fight with "Fly With Me" playing in the background. It made me feel the same way Spirited Away did when I was a kid. I'll be on the look out for animations on that KZbin radio show, uh podcast, I guess?

If I had to list out what I'd like to see: Open worlds with things to do that unlock linear levels that progress the story, while also containing optional things that provide background story and world building (like the memory tokens and their characters.) More interesting linear stages with sonic tuned to play better in them. Some of the best cyberspace zones had some of the SA2 layouts, and I'd love to see more of that. To that point, separate sonic tuning. Killing momentum on homing attacks makes sense in an open world, less so in a linear level. Same with the heavier feeling jump and air control. But I'm hopeful for the next game, and I'm glad there's as much conversation about this game as there has been

I honestly wish that we got something for getting 100% in the game, like a fully free-roam Green Hill Zone instead of a Cyberspace level design for it. Like, for all the 3D Sonic stages, we mostly got linear-style 3D levels, especially from SA2 and Lost World, when it comes to 3D Green Hill Zone. But to have a version of Green Hill to fully roam around in like that Green Hill Paradise fan game from a few years ago, that would be great.

I hope it works for Windows 8.1 just fine cause I don't see why it shouldn't given the requirements don't necessarily involve Windows 1 specifically. Did Steam just skip 8.1 as if no one's using it. I prefer 8.1 as an upgraded Windows 7 where 10 is an alienated mess and 11 is a total disaster in every single way which Kinda makes me sad that OK-ish 10 is our only good option for 3 more years before resorting to Linux in case 12 fails.
