A re active dog is easier to train ,a non re active dog is not,in my opinion,all u have to do is re direct their re activity

I would rather my dog go through some training sessions with a little shock or two than wind up with a dead dog lying in the road because he didn't come when called. But then i happen to like my dog even if he can be a pain in the ass. Positive only training is a joke unless you have a weak temperament dog, i have an extremely high energy, alpha male that will weigh in at approx 120lbs when grown and im 67, do you really want me to have an untrained dog. NO

Law says they have to be on the leash, doesnt say anything about having to hold on to the leash lol. Id always just drap it over my dogs back and kinda tuck it into the harness strap so it didnt drag or catch him up when i was training mine. Although no one ever said anything to me about it anyways.

LOVE these dogs. Theres a certain skill that comes with being able to be able to train these dogs. These dogs will never be able to be "trained". Their natural instinct keeps them from being able to do so. So special. So strong. So amazing.

Getting some conflicting advice on the net and KZbin.. some say keep dog and baby separate and teach respect and boundaries. Others say introduce them slowly and let them smell them and get a little closer. Our dog is is child aggressive and we just had a newborn. So far we've kept them at a healthy distance without making it a big deal. He's still very curious and was very uncomfortable when we put baby in the bedroom. We need to separate them for sleeping arrangements right now. Anymore advice?

I am an old school KNPV trainer and the Dutch way differs a lot from this training but this also works.As long as a dog is not harmed mentally it is ok.

Haz , thank for this wonderful content (as always) . Educational ! Very Informative to hear how he selects his dogs for IGP and Breeding. As always, great to hear from the champs , esp... from Canada , and this certainly includes yourself. We don't hear much from AN LE, so it's a great treat to see him on your podcast. Hope to see you and An Le more in future. I'll stay tuned. Subscribed. Hahaha

My mentor picked my puppy for me, I didnt know what I was doing, so much that my first IGP prospect was an ovcharka. lol. I showed up to class and he right away said NO, i will get you a puppy. Now I have a nice GSD and an ovcharka. From personal experience, and new to sport gettig the right genetics for the job sure makes a huge difference! Glad to be a patreon member, the full interview is EPIC! thanks for great content!

This emphasizes my dilemma. Do I get a puppy or year and a half old with proven raw material . I think of Haz bringing dogs from Holland. They ain't pups. They got the proven raw material to do what your goal is. Puppy's can be hit or miss.

That’s why you go to a breeder like Haz to find a pup. Someone like him can work with you to help make the right choice.
@erinheathermcintyre5063
@erinheathermcintyre5063 3 күн бұрын
@@1packatak true. But like pointed out in this video, you can have Haz select the puppy personally for me, a year from now the dog might just be nervous or low drive or whatever. If I gave him a full 2 years to find the perfect year and a half old dog, I would be far less likely to have issues. But then I would not be raising it from a puppy but developing an existing dogs raw potential. Something Haz is an expert on is testing the young 1-1.5 year olds
@1packatak
@1packatak 3 күн бұрын
@@erinheathermcintyre5063 I get what you are saying. A question would be what would your goals be? A good pet? A pup you could do some obedience with? A pup you want to trial with? In what venue do you want to work? And are you happy with local competitions? Or are you looking at the national/ international stuff? Going up the ladder in your goals will change the type of pup that will work for you. And my last question is what is your skill set? Is it more for training basics or do you have more experience? Once you start looking at national/ international levels your skill set has to be extremely high, as does your time to spend training. And so does your wallet😏
