Very similar. Government job, good pay, pension ready for me…I just wasn’t happy. I trained dogs on the side and started getting a lot of requests and I told myself this is what I’m supposed to be doing. I told my dad about it and he thought it was crazy, told my wife she said go for it. I resigned shortly after and here I am 4 years later with a successful business and a happy family doing what I love to do. Life is too short man, do what you love.

legit that guy with a career but loving dog training. so much more is me right now. $85,000 a year managing a retail store with 300 employees. I have made $40,000 this year on my off days training dogs and I love it so much more. I need to stop this shit and do dogs full-time.

Do it brother. First year is always tough but it gets better. Have a plan, educate yourself and put in the work and you’ll be successful.

Whats your opinion on "backyard bitework"? Whats the line? I see it somewhat as a hobby, fullfiling a dogs genetic needs, and well.. for some its the start of a professional career. But ive heard A LOT of people against dogs biting sleeves at home, decoying for your own dogs etc... is it really that bad? id like to hear it from you.

I just turned down a cushy government job, I value the time I have with my family more!

I needed to hear this! I’m a blue collar worker who makes great money, but I don’t enjoy my career anymore, plus most of my colleagues retire and die from cancer due to the exposures on the job. Now what!? Crap…. I just don’t like online schooling, it sucks, and how do you become proficient at a skill via a computer?

If it is really your passion, you will learn and do it no matter what. Nothing replace practice. But I personally have learn so many things and abilities online, and even with free you tube videos. You just need to put the effort and believe in yourself. I don't know in Wich country you are, but it is very possible that there are at least some good trainers in your country you can contact.

Usually I learn something via KZbin or such and then I look for opportunities to practice those skills. Say for example you want to get into wood carving, you look at some videos or articles that teach you the tools and techniques, and then you get the materials and just do it.
